Email just received: The @CompaniesHouse exploit revealed last Friday was in place for FIVE MONTHS since an update in October. The logged-in user permission control failure enabled ability to update or file for ANY company and access directors critical PII (DOB, address) 😱

For anyone struggling to keep up with protocols, this is an HTTP layer solve that could sit within Google's AP2 or Stripe's ACP agentic trust, orchestration protocols. This is just message flow & an evolution of @coinbase x402 spec. Do Google / Visa/MC adopt or launch their own?
Rob Fernandes@rob2775

.@stripe author another #agentic #commerce protocol working with @tempo - an open standard for headless #payments by #AI agents and other software which can bypass #checkout UI flows. In short, an answer for the long reserved HTTP 402 Payment Required. stripe.com/blog/machine-p…

I love this model, the win/win for merchant and PSP is a product masterstroke - and @Vivacomofficial deserve credit for being way ahead of the market on this.
Rob Fernandes@rob2775

More #EmbeddedFinance as @UnzerGroup is the latest fast growing SMB #merchant services provider (& card acquirer via @clearhaus ownership) to add integrated account and card for merchant settlement (like @sumup, @vivacomofficial & @teyaglobal before them). unzer.com/en/press/artic…

@inventur_es As defined there's a dependency on someone to send the token (provided by the agent) back to the token issuer to process from the real payment credential, but if it's a Visa/MC VCN it could be sent (along with intent payload) direct to acquirer like a normal card? No docs...

@rob2775 If it’s more similar to Apple Pay then they will run into exactly the same problem that we do, which is that it only works with deep merchant gateway integration

Absent any actual material from this programme, there is a high chance based on my newsfeed each week that Visa/MC marketing teams are simply engaged in a PR space race #vagueposting about issuer testing while co-workers rush to build #agentic stuff. 🫣
Rob Fernandes@rob2775

.@Visa picks the UK and Europe for first roll out of "Visa #Agentic Ready" programme, supporting card issuers to test #AI #agent #payments with #merchants. Region is first due to "high adoption of tokenisation and [3D secure] authentication". visa.co.uk/about-visa/new…

@inventur_es Good question, that was my assumption (they store the authentication cryptogram CAVV/AVV within the intent signature that the agent then uses) but there's not a lot of evidence/detail in Visa/MC comms/docs yet - my bet is "human not present" <5% vs 95% agent asks user to approve.

@rob2775 So maybe they'll run 3DS challenge at the beginning when you create the card and then it will just work for whatever at the point it's actually used?

@inventur_es There's no evidence of what the agentic ready issuer programme entails but yes it will likely involve creating one time VCNs like on ApplePay and explaining to the issuers how these are deployed/consumed in Trusted Agent Protocol, AP2 etc

@rob2775 I'm confused. How is this not just virtual card issuance rebranded as something cooler?

Well this is awkward with @Visa using BVNK to support stablecoin payments in @VISADIRECT (but hopefully a good return on Visa Ventures investment!)
Rob Fernandes@rob2775

.@Mastercard buying London #Fintech @BVNKFinance for $1.8bn, recognising the accelerating importance of #stablecoins in cross-border #payments infrastructure - as well as growing #CBDC opportunity for cross-sell via @Vocalink / Nets national scheme roles. investor.mastercard.com/investor-news/…
