Nach dem Fitnessstudio noch schnell zu #Kaufland im Viktoria Center. Vor den Kassen: „reduzierte“ Macadamia-Nüsse (80g) von Seeberger für 4,39 €. Rotes Schild, „alter Preis“ – aber ohne Angabe. Neugierig frage ich an der Kasse nach dem ursprünglichen Preis. Antwort: nicht auffindbar. Man sei aber „sicher“, dass er höher war. Also zur Information. Dort heißt es plötzlich: Das sei gar nicht reduziert. Man habe „keinen Listenpreis gehabt“ und es einfach so ausgezeichnet. Ich weise darauf hin, dass „reduziert“ genau das suggeriert – nämlich eine Preissenkung. Reaktion: Unverständnis. Das mache man „immer so“. Damit ist klar: Der Kunde soll eine Ersparnis vermuten, die es nicht gibt. Eigentlich ein Fall für den Verbraucherschutz. Also: Augen auf bei roten Preisschildern.

@exQUIZitely DM had a mythical reputation when we were young, it was a game that only existed on the Atari ST of the cousin of a buddy of ours. We sometimes got a glimpse on it when visiting, never long enough though, but enough to be in awe. It had a sense of being a more gritty EoB.

Dungeon Master's spell system was beyond epic and incredibly innovative for its time. Instead of the common approach (memorizing fixed spell names like "Fireball" or selecting from a menu), it used a rune-based combination system. Spells were created by combining 2 to 4 runes in a specific sequence. The first rune always determined the spell's power level - how strong it was, how long it lasted, and how much mana it cost. The following runes defined the actual effect (for example, fire + wing = fireball). There were separate runes for Wizards (offensive and utility magic) and Priests (healing and protection), but the core mechanic remained the same. I sometimes wonder if this was perhaps a bit "too advanced" for some players, since the more common (and still dominant) spell system has always been the "select spell from spellbook" mechanic.
