Under the SAVE Act, you cannot use your driver's license to register to vote. Republicans want you to buy a passport instead. If you can afford one. This is a modern-day poll tax.

🚨JUST IN: Texas just passed its first major test. A shareholder with 100 shares (0.00002% of Southwest Airlines) sued the board. A federal court just dismissed the case with prejudice under Texas's SB 29. In Delaware, 9 shares nullified a $55.8 billion compensation package. Texas built a system to stop opportunistic litigation. Yesterday, it proved it works.

We are in the middle of the battle to pass the SAVE America Act. This is simple, commonsense legislation that will protect our elections. We need to get it done.

@johnkonrad @gCaptain Interesting analysis, if this is playing out as described, then it demonstrates that Trump has conceptually outgrown his office. Players need to level up in their thinking and assumptions of what is 'the art of the possible'.

Let's unpack this.. What if the White House has no intention of reopening the Strait of Hormuz? What if this war is really about ships & tariffs? I had a long discussion with senior DOE official yesterday on background. I can’t share any details but it’s clear everyone’s Strait of Hormuz calculus is wrong. We need to go back to the drawing boards. That's it. That's the tweet. Now a hypothetical 🧵 with my personal thoughts.

13 Americans are dead, and the price of gas climbed 75 cents last week, but Trump is playing golf and his administration is focused on the design of the White House columns.

Three weeks into Trump’s war of choice with Iran, and 13 American service members are dead, while families back home are facing soaring gas costs and skipping meals to keep up with health care and utility bills. No one is winning this war. The United States definitely isn't.

Quite a few people are replying to my post below to state "No plan survives first contact with the enemy." I 100% agree with that sentiment. There is a bigger point, however, that needs to be stated. It's part of what makes the U.S. military special. It's the PLANNING PROCESS ITSELF that makes us lethal. I'll explain. As the U.S. military goes through planning, it devotes significant time to "wargaming," i.e., a deliberate process where we have a red team that planners go against to determine what the enemy might do in response to our actions. This can result in an analysis of what is known as "branches and sequels," i.e. ways we may deviate from the base plan based on circumstances. All that wargaming and analysis might not make it into the actual, original operations plan, but the fact that we DID DO that PROCESS and analysis ahead of time means that when the initial plan does not survive first contact, we have already thought through what might happen and are able to adjust the plan as necessary, in the blink of an eye. It's one of our greatest strengths.
Cynical Publius@CynicalPublius

The Department of War is populated by literally tens of thousands of mid-grade officers whose singular job in life is to write and continuously update a plethora of operations orders that cover every imaginable contingency involving the US military, down to the tiniest detail. If you can imagine it, there is an OPORD for it. Never tell me a US military mission lacked adequate planning. It's a lie.

We don't talk about this enough. The Constitution of the United States, Article I, Section 3: "The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof..." Senators were not suppose to be chosen by popular vote, but by state legislatures. This meant that the state legislatures mattered. The 17th amendment (1913) changed this, and the upshot is that even more attention was focused on national rather than state politics. It also means that those who are good at demagoguery and mass manipulation have fewer impediments. Welcome, tyranny. I'm not one of those idolators of the Constitution, but the original vision was smart—and the *reform* was really *deform*. What happens in the state capitols ought to be of at least as much interest to us as what happens in DC.

🚨BREAKING: One of the largest publicly traded companies on earth could have chosen Delaware. They didn't. The board of ExxonMobil (Market Cap: ~$623 BILLION) unanimously recommends redomiciling to Texas from New Jersey. CEO Darren Woods: "Texas has made a noticeable effort to embrace the business community... aligning our legal home with our operating home, in a state that understands our business and has a stake in the company’s success, is important."
