For most of human history, the sky was your clock, compass, and map — In the era of modern science, that's more true than ever as we probe the universe and define our units based on its laws and observed contents flic.kr/p/2nJZPfc We are the light pushing out now

Truly outlandish. Some places in Europe didn't just record their warmest February on record.... They went on to beat their warmest MARCH temperature levels. [THREAD]

I really worry about Canada. There's a trillion dollar race in to attract investment for the clean energy transition and instead of embracing it, we are missing the boat because of our obsession with oil & gas. The money will go elsewhere folks. It already is.

Climate deniers have had to pivot (nature is undermining the cred of straight denial). Now those running interference for the most profitable corporations in human history have a new strategy: "solutions skepticism". At my public talks, I encountering this more & more.

@KevinClimate »Countries make various promises about what they are going to do against climate change. These promises are a disaster and still overly optimistic because they only rely on future generations, our children and grandchildren to develop technologies that we don’t have today.« 🧵3/8

The eagerness of the North American media to push the erroneous argument that EV sales are in serious decline is so dogged it’s almost admirable

@ryankatzrosene Net zero has always been a lie and a form of self-deception meant to delay emission cuts until after the responsibility of the government now in power

Far too much lobbying of government by oil and gas. Hard to believe that the time of politicians, political staff and public servants is best spent this way.

"The world needs more Canada" is a popular refrain in Canadian foreign policy. But Canadians' confidence in our own democratic institutions is in steep decline. Perhaps we all need the Canadian state to be more of what it imagines itself to be. At a @ParlCent democracy panel

I've said it before, will again: Leash your dog. I have covered horrific dog attacks and EVERY SINGLE TIME the owner says a variation of "I never thought my dog would ..." Toronto has a lot of off-leash parks. You have no excuse.
Toronto Star@TorontoStar

A Toronto woman was left with life-altering injuries after being attacked by two off-leash dogs in Etobicoke. Can you take legal action if you've been bitten? Faced with a dog attack, here's how to protect yourself and your furry family member. trib.al/uj8AwqN

Putin tried and failed to murder Navalny quickly and secretly with poison, and now he has murdered him slowly and publicly in prison. He was killed for exposing Putin and his mafia as the crooks and thieves they are. My thoughts are with the brave man's wife and children.
