Everyone that is saying Fable 5 was SO good in their ~72 hours of testing (if you sat up for 3 days straight) are the same exact people that if a newer model came out after… would say Fable 5 was so bad and they hate it 🤣 You guys make me crack up bruh We are far beyond simple ‘chat’ models! If you aren't using these models to build dope shit, you're really missing out. I never said Fable 5 was bad, I am saying you can still do tons of GREAT work with both GPT 5.5 & Opus 4.6 through 4.8. Even sonnet 4.6 is so good for tool use

Yeah, I think a lot of it is hype which clearly the poster here fell for lol. People still caught up on Fable 5 when you can go to OpenRouter right now and use a fusion of open source models cheaper and more powerful. Run it through Hermes and it’s not even close Once cheaper hardware is out it will be over for some of these giants, no way you can justify 50 dollars per /m output tokens. I think a lot of non engineers drive the discourse online about AI

Models in a couple of years may not even be based on the transformer architecture; gpu stuff rn is crazy inefficient and AI researchers are looking for ways to get intelligence without the costs we have rn. Makes me wonder how fast these big companies will crumble.

@jun_song I loaded Kimi K2.7 Code into Hermes and it is awesome, I’ve had a better time than with Opus 4.8.

After my agent testing, seems like Kimi-K2.7 is better than Opus-4.8. It is closer to Fable level. My recent impression : Fable > Kimi-2.7 > Opus-4.8 = GLM-5.2 > GPT5.5 > Minimax-M3

@mattshumer_ Fable provoking such an extreme response from the government likely means no model more powerful than Fable/Mythos will ever be allowed for release since the case for a ban would only be stronger. This is it. I expected an S-curve eventually but not like this. Sad day.

Assuming Anthropic is able to restore Fable in the next few days, there's literally zero point doing any meaningful work until it is back. What can be done in 100 hours with Opus can be done in 1 with Fable. Hopefully this is figured out quickly.

@RZ0224 @mattshumer_ people are so dramatic. It makes sense this has been discussed online but like. I think you’ll be fine. The algorithm that does everything for you being a little bit worse won’t kill you. Maybe take this opportunity to learn something new. Also, it was out for what, 3 days?

This is such an exaggeration, while it is the best model I’ve used, it’s not by the landslide you’re saying. Code quality and task adherence is great, however no where near 100x of opus, plus the churning time is significantly longer. Learning how to use smaller models to produce same quality result will be a skill in and of itself in the next few months and one anyone seriously working with AI for any use case should be striving for. The mindset of just waiting for the next model to solve it or do it better is not the approach people should be taking.
