@EmDDubya @memeticsisyphus I admit there’s a fair distinction to draw between explicitly military targets and logistical support targets like bridges and the power grid

@EmDDubya @memeticsisyphus But if the tactic works, which is to say the US calls off the attack, isn’t that simply a green light to use that tactic in every conceivable scenario?

@the41guy @memeticsisyphus Sure. That doesn't mean it's just ok to blow up civilians. I would see a little more of an argument is they put a bunch of civilians in an army base, but these are non military targets with the statement of destroying not just the regime, but the country as a whole

@EmDDubya @memeticsisyphus But surely you would agree that the Iranian action of using human shields is *more* morally impermissible than ignoring the blackmail, right?

@lost_nomad__ Iran has never once in its history targeted US civilians

@lost_nomad__ Because Middle Eastern counties literally do not care about civilian deaths. They only pretend to care as a means of appealing to westerners Pakistan blew up an Afghan hospital like 2 weeks ago. There’s no investigation, and the countries will normalize relations soon enough

@Hammer_On_X @PatrickChristys In a sense they were, yes. That school was a former military installation which shared a wall with a current military installation. They had 24 hour revolving “shifts” to ensure there were students there at all times. So I think the intent was pretty clear

@PatrickChristys Patrick thinks the kids that got bombed in Iran by Trumps missiles were forced to go to school and get bombed.

@EmDDubya @memeticsisyphus “Morally impermissible” does not equal “war crime.” We don’t have a Geneva convention for what is and isn’t morally impermissible. People have argued about that since the beginning of time, and will do so until the end of time

I suspect Dr. Naomi is pointing out that these photographs must have been taken ~14 days apart. A solar day on the Moon is 29.53 Earth days. So if the Sun were shining on the left image it could not shine on right image until 14 days later. In other words, my guess is the left image is from Orion capsule and the right is an old image from some other vehicle. Because Orion's entire trip is only about ten days. Of course, I may have misunderstood everyone and everything. That happens. My bad.

@Kazanjy @Arrogance_0024 It’s also a stupid comment. “It’s politics with weapons” Yeah. Like literally every single war ever. War is extremely political

The "leave no man behind" doctrine is actually a strategic weakness disguised as a virtue. Name one other military on earth that destroys 6 aircraft and fights a ground battle inside a sovereign nation to recover one pilot. You can't. Because no other military confuses tactical sentimentality with strategic logic. Soldiers serve the mission. The mission doesn't serve the soldier. The US has now established that Iran can shoot down an F-15, then watch America spend $300M and expose Delta Force trying to prove it didn't happen. That's not military doctrine. That's politics with weapons. A military that cannot accept the risk of loss cannot win wars. The US hasn't won one since 1945.

Lose all this to rescue 1 pilot and call it your greatest military success of all time.

@SleestakMack @ArtemisConsort Only the GOP would be stupid enough to allow their most popular issue to be lost to “bipartisan” compromise No Democrats are sponsoring bipartisan abortion compromises, for example

@ArtemisConsort Any immigration bill described as “bipartisan” can be summarily rejected. We’ve played this shell game before: fake promises of border security, unenforceable requirements to learn English and pay a fine, no limits on chain migration, and it’s all discretionary. No fucking way.

@ArtemisConsort Yet another reminder that removing Trump will not magically usher in a “based” anti-immigrant alternative Instead, we’ll get bipartisan amnesty bills built on the “compromise” (empty promise) of better border enforcement like we have since the 80s

@SuitablePolitic This is largely true. There’s the occasional deeply religious nutcase that truly believes in pacifism, but easily 90% of all “anti war” sentiment comes hand and hand with apologetics (if not explicit support) for the wars and violence of non-western countries

Tucker's mythological crash-out is yet more proof that virtually nobody's truly anti-war. They're just on the other side.

This is a common lament in FtM spaces. Because most of them never had any intention of actually being men (they wanted to be "trans"), they find passing & therefore being socially regarded as a man disturbing & isolating. Which they then blame on the misandry of the patriarchy.

@fullblownozzie @JohnDoe1465160 @bumbadum14 “Better in the long run” may be the most obvious psyop ever. These people could get their super based “long run” candidate in 2040 or whenever they’re planning for and they’d still tell us to vote Democrat in that election too
