🚨🇮🇱🇱🇧 Israel's Defense Minister just laid out the plan for southern Lebanon.
The IDF will establish a security zone inside Lebanon and maintain full control up to the Litani River, including all remaining bridges.
More than 600,000 Lebanese residents evacuated north will be banned from returning south of the Litani.
All houses in Lebanese villages near the border will be demolished, using the Rafah and Beit Hanoun model from Gaza, "to eliminate once and for all the threats along the border."
Katz also said Israel will handle "shooting of stray bullets from other areas in Lebanon" and will maintain an ongoing IDF security presence "just like in Syria and Gaza."
One could argue that keeping full military control inside another country is not border defense. It’s occupation.

🚨🇫🇷🇮🇱 French Foreign Ministry: Israeli forces opened fire on a French UNIFIL convoy in southern Lebanon yesterday.
There were 3 separate incidents:
IDF soldiers aimed rifles at the UNIFIL Chief of Staff and told him to turn back.
Then they opened direct fire on the convoy.
Then an Israeli tank shot a warning round near it. No casualties reported.
This comes on top of 3 UN peacekeepers from Indonesia being killed in separate attacks on Sunday and yesterday.
France's FM called the incidents "unacceptable and unjustifiable" and requested an emergency UN Security Council meeting for today.
The UN is investigating but hasn't determined who was responsible for the deadly attacks yet.

The answer is obvious IMO. It’s because your question contains the wrong premise. Your premise is that Lebanon is its own sovereign country. That may have been true at one point in the past, but is no longer true.
Lebanon has been another failed state for a long time. It’s Prime Minister is so in name only and has very limited power. Lebanon is an Iranian jihadist territory. The truth is that Iran and its Hezbollah henchmen will decide the future of the country. They have the weapons and the will. Hezbollah will never voluntarily disarm. Much like what we are witnessing in Gaza now with Hamas.
Unless there are enough non-jihadi peace loving Lebanese willing to become violent against Hezbollah and Iran (e.g. civil war) to take back their country, nothing will change.
The consequence will be that Israel will be forced to continue it’s righteous war against the jihadi base in Lebanon. May they be 100% successful! Israel will take control of southern Lebanon again in order to secure its northern border. But this time they are going to be much less willing to give it back like they did in 2006. Hopefully, Israel has learned that lesson.
All the anti-Israel, Jew haters will yell and scream “colonizers” blah blah blah. But what would the U.S. do (or any reasonable country) if Canada, for example, constantly attacked the northern U.S? We all know the answer to that question. So save me all the self-righteous virtue signaling bull💩.
The irony is that all the jihadi, woke Left and woke Reich supporters who fear an “expansionist” Israel are actually forcing their biggest fear to come true by continuing to try to destroy the only democracy in the Middle East. The more they make war against Israel, the more territory Israel will end up controlling in the end. 🤷♂️

PM candidate Makhzoumi has raised serious concerns, submitting a formal question to the government after the Prime Minister’s statement regarding IRCG elements, allegedly holding forged Lebanese passports.
The impact to Lebanon’s sovereignty and national security is impossible to understate.
Question: Why isn’t the army being deployed appropriately to kick out the Iranian ambassador and regain Lebanon's sovereignty?
It's one thing to debate the disarmament of Hezbollah as a military militia, but what excuse is there to delay the capture of IRCG members illegally in the country?

UPDATE: I’m really struggling to call what happens next
On one hand, Trump needs an off-ramp to limit the global economic damage and growing domestic political pressure
Iran would also like this war to end before more cities are leveled and more leaders are killed
On the other hand, Iran is doing surprisingly well controlling the Strait, striking the Gulf and Israel, and selling oil for more than twice the price than before the war, making a killing
And on the American side, troops are heading to the region for what increasingly looks like a ground operation to control Hormuz
Negotiations are the most promising development since February 28th. But Iran's warnings to Gulf nations against supporting any ground operation, combined with maximalist demands from both sides, make a deal unlikely in the short term

They feel they have the upper hand, and rightly so: They control the Strait of Hormuz, Gulf nations are suffering economically, and Israel is getting bombed daily. I grew up as young Aramaic Maronite Christian boy in Israel during the 1980's. The news back then in Hebrew were describing IDF forces fighting side by side with Phalange Christian Lebanese forces against same Jihadi Arab enemy led by Palestinians and later with SLA against Hiz-balah.
I understood from my father that our country Israel is helping and saving our native Christian people from annihilation and It sacrified for this cause their beloved sons and heroes. Time to be peace builders, Time for a new Lebanon that meet Christian aspirations in their homeland Mt. Lebanon.

Having spent lots of time in Judea and Samaria, I can definitely say the opposite is not true for Israeli controlled areas.
In regards to southern Lebanon, it is what it is. Lebanon is a failed state and has proven incapable of securing its own country from its jihadi overlords. It is very simple calculus — if they can’t bring Hezbollah to heel then Israel is going to do it for them. Period. And Israel should absolutely take control of southern Lebanon for its own security as the spoils of war go to the victor. Classic case of FAFO.

If those were actually a thing perhaps it would make sense to discuss them.
Israel can’t annex or illegally occupy its ancestral and rightful homeland. Especially after it won back that land from the actual colonizers in multiple defensive wars against the Arab colonizers who have tried to annihilate them on multiple occasions including the current war.
Israeli Arabs have the right to vote and hold public office including some of the highest offices in the land. The Arab population in Israel has grown approximately 10x since 1948. What has happened to the respective Jewish populations of Arab countries during that same period?
Meanwhile, the parts of Judea and Samaria controlled by the corrupt Palestinian Authority (I.e. Area A) literally have big red signs posted at the entrance to their communities saying it is illegal for Israeli Jews to enter and that they may be putting their lives in danger if they do. Imagine that! No such signs exist in Jewish communities. So who is really the ones practicing apartheid?
The same old arguments from the same old inept, corrupt and morally bankrupt UN. An utter and complete waste of time and money. The UN needs to be shut down entirely. Sadly, it has evolved to a point where it is a huge net negative in the world and does much more bad than good.
