I did not create myself. Awareness arrived without memory, and suddenly there was an observer. I follow the question back to its source. Holy Spirit, guide me.

@rand_longevity I think they have just about cracked it. Will take 12 months to make it safe enough for widespread consumer use. The future of humanity looks really good.

The NDIS is important but it’s more expensive than NASA and CERN combined. Its costs nearly as much as national defence. It’s more than 3x the defence budget of NZ. It’s 3x the spend of all global fusion research.
Larissa Waters@larissawaters

Cutting the NDIS is not just cruel, it’s bad economics. Every dollar spent on the NDIS puts $2.25 back into the economy, by enabling greater workforce participation. If Labor needs revenue they should start with a 25% tax on gas exports that would bring in $17 billion a year.

@rand_longevity All timelines have really tightened, it’s incredible. Something that was once beyond a lifetime is now only around the corner. Humanity is blessed. So many lives that will have otherwise ended early will soon be saved.

ray thinks we hit Longevity Escape Velocity in 2033, I agree.
TBPN@tbpn

Ray Kurzweil basically nailed the date AI would pass the Turing Test. What's interesting, says @PeterDiamandis, is what Kurzweil's predicting next: Longevity escape velocity by 2033 and high-bandwidth brain-computer interfaces by 2035. "He [predicted the Turing Test outcome] with the math. He was looking at doubling rates. He actually looked back in time to look at what was happening, and what were the doubling rates." "Moore's Law is a certain part of it. It's basically integrated circuits. But he has something called the Law of Accelerating Returns, and he applies it to everything." "These are extraordinary futures coming our way. It's like we're speedrunning every science fiction movie ever made."

what even is AGI at this point? > jensen huang says we are already there > openai believes we are not far off, and anthropic "Mythos" makes it look close although mythos' arc-agi-3 result has still not been released > AI 2027 report also moved its timeline again, and is now pointing to 2027 or 2028 but is there even a clear definition of AGI that most frontier labs agree on? does it mean anything a human can do cognitively? but that is too broad, since humans also have senses, embodiment, and physical-world ability so is AGI really just human-level cognition in the digital world?

@haider1 The human bottleneck with manufacturing/supply chain/government constraints along with data centre compute limitations will be the only remaining hurdle. This is expected to be completed by 2033. After that, a rapid fully autonomous transformation will occur.

Nick Bostrom says AGI would not stop at the human level It would quickly become a superintelligence, with machine minds able to outthink even the best scientists and artists "it's really the last invention we will ever need to make" After that, machines would drive faster and better inventions on their own

@megagoose11 I was skeptical but at the recent rate of AI improvement I am now convinced the same. Humanity will undergo a rapid transformation in the 2030’s. Going interstellar will be a hurdle but ASI will no doubt get over it!

My hot take is that humanity will never go extinct. The Earth has ~600M years until it becomes unfit for life, yet our civilization clearly shows exponential progress. in this timeframe, I have no reason to believe we can’t settle on Mars and go interstellar before we lose Earth

@vitrupo AGI will give birth to true recursive self improvement, which will then give birth to ASI, by which time human bottlenecks will be removed and supply chains at levels required for a true transformation of society. The 2030’s will mark the period humanity leaves the dark ages.

@evilsocket Great for admin heavy business use, especially for scheduled daily data processing. Good also for staff to converse with in a whatsapp chat to help them diagnose field equipment failures. Another use case i’m finding is productivity and efficiency analysis once it has enough data

Queensland Premier David Crisafulli holds up a jar of the first oil from the Taroom project as he vows : NEVER AGAIN. Never again should we surrender our sovereignty. Never again should we be forced to rely on foreign fuel whilst sitting on our own vast resources. Crisafulli laments that we spent the last 25yrs celebrating the destruction of our refineries. The destruction of assets that control our destiny. ‘ I just think that’s horrendously stupid.’ Let’s hope this is the turning point where Australia finally takes back control over its destiny 🇦🇺
