SF continuously feels polarized in terms of mission-driven people vs money-driven people pretty much everything outside of deeptech feels like a grift now maybe this is the singularity they were talking about

🇺🇸 AMERICAN DATA CENTERS 🇺🇸 Excellent piece in FT by my friend @joshzoff arguing that the US can't treat data centers like we treated rare earths, and that data centers are a great way to finance development of a bunch of other advanced technologies (strong agree).

Jets have started to arrive for @allenandcompany annual conference in @sunvalley. All the leaders in the AI space will be here from @sundarpichai of @Google and @finkd of @Meta. @Apple new ceo John Ternus, @DarioAmodei of @AnthropicAI, @JeffBezos of @amazon and @Prometheus and @sama of @OpenAI. @netflix @Disney @warnerbros and ton of media moguls will be there as well. We can expect a lot of deals to get done this week behind closed doors.

@duborges I would argue it’s a highly competitive market. So many fintech players, that the costs have actually gone down over time!

i still can't believe our fintech has to pay 20cents for every credit card authorization it's just an API call... that costs 20 cents... the cost for that is probably 0.00000000002 what a great business model for them

@yuhasbeentaken The narrative that AI will reduce jobs is also shifting. We are seeing the companies that adopt the AI are hiring more individuals that are upskilled in managing agents. With increased productivity we see more hiring to expand their businesses.

“claude code will kill software engineers”... absolutely not. the best software engineers will earn 50-100x more than average developers... because their job is shifting from writing every line of code to leading teams of ai agents. >design the architecture >coordinate multiple agents >review their output >catch failures before production >turn generated code into reliable systems the more agents you can control and manage effectively, the more valuable you become. ai makes the gap between average and exceptional engineers much bigger.
