@shevereshtus You're way off base on this one. It has nothing to do with his "Jewish" education. It is the difference between right and wrong, and you don't need a formal Jewish education for that. Lander sold his soul to win an election.

Brad Lander is not a Kapo. He's not even a bad person. In fact, he's trying to be a good Jew. The problem is that he was robbed of an authentic Jewish education. He was raised to believe bagels, Seinfeld, chinese food on the 25th and liberalism are the sum total of Jewishness. He wants to be a good person. He wants to be a good Jew. He wants to make his bubbe and zayde proud. I can guarantee you that he's not sitting around thinking 'How can I betray my people? How can I work against Jews, Torah, and Judaism?' He genuinely is trying to live up to his perception of what being a Jew and Jewishness means. The issue is he was robbed of most of the tools that would have helped him do these things the Jewish way. Don't blame Brad Lander. Blame the American Jewish establishment who decided that funding museums, galas, and Upper East Side cultural events was good enough to ensure Jewish continuity instead of trying to give each and every Jewish child a Jewish education. He's a symptom, not the disease.

ATROCIOUS & UNCONSCIONABLE Under an atrocious part of this unfolding deal, Israel’s PM and Lebanon’s President will be forced to make a decision by our government that is truly outrageous if not unconscionable: either defend your country and protect your citizens from Iran backed Hezbollah terrorists or fall in line behind an agreement that ensures Hezbollah’s survival and protection. And if they don’t fall in line they will face incredible pressure and public ridicule. We already saw some of this. Of COURSE Israel and Lebanon will choose the safety and lives of their citizens over some deal that is unenforceable as against Iran and Hezbollah, certainly in the near future. Their interests don’t align with Iran’s nor apparently our interests. Why the hell would we do this? I remind you Hezbollah has maimed and murdered thousands of Americans. WE have done nothing in 45 years to confront it. Only Israel has. Isolationism and appeasement suck. Why are so few speaking out against this absurdity?  Even Obama didn’t do this. Both Israel and Lebanon were intentionally sidelined in these American-led discussions.  Terror-supporting Qatar and Pakistan enlisted as mediators!  Mediators for Iran! Again, no BS about disinformation or fake news.  This is as real as it gets.  Defend it.

“Monsters.” “Dark money.” A hidden hand “turning us against one another.” Swap “AIPAC” for “Jews” and it’s the oldest antisemitic conspiracy theory in the books. That’s not criticizing a lobby. That’s laundering antisemitism from your podium as Mayor of a city with more than a million Jews. This bullshit is dangerous. If you want to talk about real monsters let’s start with the North Koreans, Russians, Sudanese, the Iranian regime, and their proxies — Hamas, Hezbollah, PIJ — and other terrorist groups who’ve killed scores of Americans.
Hen Mazzig@HenMazzig

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani calls AIPAC a "monster" that "moves dark money." No mention of Russia or the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan. I guess they aren't as "bad" as AIPAC is to Mamdani. Insane.

@indiemusicfan4 @AJCCEO @NYCMayor My apologies: AIPAC is a 501(c)(4), not a 501(c)(3). My core argument remains, though: all PAC contributions exceeding $200 are publicly disclosed, and AIPAC manages its 501(c)(4) funds completely within the law, just like every other organization under that classification.

Dark money? AIPAC is a 501(c)(3) where all donations are reported to the government. Genocide? There was no genocide. There was a war that the Palestinians started, and they could have ended at any time. Netanyahu? He is an elected official in the only democracy in the mideast. So basically everything you wrote is false. Please come back here and correct your statement with facts.

Ted Deutch, CEO of American Jewish Committee
After watching @NYCMayor's recent speech at a political rally, I wanted to offer these thoughts to him. Mayor Mamdani, referring to fellow New Yorkers as “monsters” is outrageous and dangerous, and the impact of your words extends far beyond politics. It’s not only about your repeated attacks on Israel and those who support it, now rooted in the oldest antisemitic conspiracy theories of secret control and nefarious agendas. It’s about politics and division. You are doing exactly what you falsely accuse others of doing. Your accusation, Mr. Mayor? Efforts “to turn us against one another instead of our leaders turning toward the moral change we all know to be necessary.” But when you use your position to label people you disagree with as monsters - people who live and work and pay taxes in the city you lead, people who loved the Knicks championship parade as much as you did, people who spent yesterday celebrating their fathers and grandfathers - you are turning people against one another. Your speech wasn’t just about preserving your power. By every measure, it was about growing that power by dividing New Yorkers. You want to debate ideas? Fine. But when you call people monsters, you’re not debating ideas, you’re dehumanizing the people you disagree with. And when that comes from a mayor, it creates an environment where people hear clearly who is being cast as outside the community, one where they wonder whether they can safely live and speak as themselves. You say we deserve leaders who lead with hope and not fear. We all agree. But what you did here is the opposite. No one should have to wonder whether they are safe expressing who they are or what they believe, whether they worship at shul, at a mosque, in a church, a gurudwara, or at a temple. Contributing to an environment in which people feel that fear is not leadership. It is exactly the kind of division you claim to oppose.
The Times of Israel@TimesofIsrael

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Thursday night described the American Israel Public Affairs Committee as “monsters,” accusing the organization of spending “millions in dark money” to “turn us against one and other” and of fearing democracy and an “end to genocide and Netanyahu’s wars.” Mamdani alleged that AIPAC moves “millions in dark money to accomplish a single goal, to preserve their power so that they can turn us against one another instead of our leaders turning towards the moral change we all know to be necessary.” Mamdani made his remarks at a rally headlined by Sen. Bernie Sanders ahead of Tuesday’s Democratic primaries. Turning to the local races, Mamdani voiced support for State Assembly member Claire Valdez for her opposition to Israel. “When other Democrats chose to look the other way as Netanyahu committed war crimes, Claire didn’t just name the genocide; she organized for a ceasefire.” On the same day as Mamdani’s remarks, Forrest Kendall Pemberton, 27, of Gainesville, Florida, was indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly trying to carry out a mass shooting against AIPAC employees in Plantation, Florida. You probably do not know this, but on October 8, 2023 (the day after Hamas's October 7 attack on Israel), Hezbollah began firing rockets, artillery, and anti-tank missiles at Israeli positions, Hezbollah has consistently been the aggressor in this conflict. Israel is not going to just sit back and take it anymore.

Every child's death is a tragedy. But it was the death of children, the rape and murder of women, the slaughter of young people attending a music festival, the promise by Hamas that they would do all of this again and again, that led to this war. A war that the Palestinians could have ended at any moment. But they chose not to, because the more Palestinians that died, the more they liked it, because it convinced people like you that they were the good guys. You need to open your brain. All those deaths that upset you, figure out why they all happened, and who is to blame.

The most progressive state in the country is now "hostile territory" for Jews. The Jews I interviewed for this story told me they moved to Vermont because of its inclusive, anything goes attitude. Then October 7th came. “It’s like all these liberal hippies want to kill me,” said Denise Gebroe, a Jew whose fitness studio was recently targeted with anti-Israel graffiti. Nearly every Jewish Vermonter I spoke with said they'd bought weapons, installed security cameras, or even adopted guard dogs over the past few years. A man told me that while his wife gave birth at a local hospital it had occurred to him: What if they realize I'm Jewish—will they treat us differently? There are two main reasons for why Vermont: 1: Vermont is ground zero for the "Apartheid-Free Communities" movement. This is the most impressive and organized BDS campaign I've encountered yet in my reporting—and hardly anyone knows about it. Anti-Israel organizers are targeting towns with as few as 800 people to get them enraged over Israel's "genocide" and "apartheid regime." The end goal is to push the town into passing an "apartheid-free" pledge. The boilerplate language comes from Quaker leaders and is just four sentences: WE AFFIRM our commitment to freedom, justice, and equality for the Palestinian people and all people; WE OPPOSE all forms of racism, bigotry, discrimination, and oppression; and WE DECLARE ourselves an apartheid-free community and to that end, WE PLEDGE to join others in working to end all support to Israel's apartheid regime, settler colonialism, and military occupation. 12 towns have passed these pledges so far—10 are in Vermont. On paper, the pledge does almost nothing. It's non-binding and contains exactly zero policies. The entire idea—according to public and internal materials I reviewed—is to turn Vermonters against the Jewish state. Activists are willing to play a long-game here. They're willing to go town by town, county by county, state by state, until it's BDS as far as the eye can see. 2. Look at who's in Congress: two out of Vermont's 3 congressional delegates are Jews critical of Israel. And Bernie Sanders is not just any politician—he is a moral compass for many in the state. So when he accuses Israel of "genocide," many in the state run with that. “People want someone to look up to, and Bernie is that person for a lot of Vermonters," said Rachel Felman, who co-founded pro-Israel group Shalom Alliance. She added that Vermont was "fertile ground to be convinced that Jews are the oppressors" because it “takes seriously the concepts of institutionalized racism." The groups behind the campaign to spread these "anti-apartheid" pledges may claim their project is not antisemitic, but the Jews I spoke to say the impact is clear: they no longer feel safe or welcome in their state. Mark Treinkman, a Jewish father near Newfane, told me he thinks about moving to Israel everyday. "The irony is that they hate Israel but they’re leaving us with exactly one option: Move to Israel." He’s grown only more worried watching the pledges spread throughout Vermont. “People in Germany one day didn’t wake up and ship people to gas chambers. It started with boycotts in academia, in the arts,” he said. “The future is bleak.”

People often ask why I bother pushing back against the anti-Israel propaganda... I have no ties to Israel in any way. I don't even think I know any Jewish people outside of the online platforms I am active on. I would like to visit some day because of the historical significance of the Levant and because I enjoy visiting foreign places with rich history that genuinely like and get along with Americans. I am not interested in Israeli politics. I am not concerned with the ongoings of their country beyond how they are a strategic ally to my country. I'm a Christian from Texas, after all. My kids will grow up in the United States, not Israel. So, again, people may wonder why I would subject myself to the hate and push back from so many that would vilify Israel, and my answer is simple. I do so because I care about the truth. I also do so because I was trained to see beyond the narratives, beyond the face of propaganda and psyops, and all of the way to the truth of how messaging can be manipulated, amplified, and repeated until it becomes accepted as truth. I watched the information environment change after October 7, 2023. I watched the shift happen in real time as our enemies used a horrific attack that they knew would generate a massive, destruction filled response to try and convince people that the initial terrorist aggressors were right and that Israel, acting in defense of their nation... in defense of those thousand plus innocent people that were murdered in their homes, in the streets, and at a concert... was wrong. Imagine if that had happened to Americans. How would we have reacted? How much destruction would we have wrought in retribution to such an act? I think we all know the answer... So, I watched as people picked up propaganda that has been debunked for over a hundred years and share it as if it confirmed their every belief. I watched as our enemies realized that the key to finally defeating the American right was simply to convince them of the oldest and dumbest propaganda the world has ever seen. It was propaganda made for illiterate peasants, but it worked like a charm because most Americans know absolutely nothing about history and even less about geopolitics or the realities of our strategic alliances. All it took was getting a few big names to push it. All they needed was to grind it into the old grievances that already existed on the right due to mistrust in our institutions and the war fatigue GWOT created for so, so many. From a propaganda standpoint... the effort was absolutely impressive. If I wanted to destabalize a first world nation, my information operations would have looked similar. And that is what should trouble you all. Our enemies know exactly what they are doing. Democrats know exactly what they are doing as well. Democrats are not only involved, but fully behind such propaganda because it distracts us from what we should really be talking about: how progressive leftists are trying to fundamentally change our great country. And the truly worrisome part is not just that it is dividing our side and distracting us from the real domestic enemy, but that it is convincing Americans, especially young Americans, that all of their problems are the result of a small faction of people ruling the world... It has already likely damaged multiple generations of Americans to an extent that I am not sure if we can recover from it, and now the VP is mimicking some of the same talking points as we head into midterms that may be the most important midterms in generations... We must push back, lest we lose everything that makes us great.

So you won't take money from American Jews? So you recognize a genocide that never happened? It is a war, not a genocide, and Israel, while far from perfect, has done an extraordinary job of protecting Palestinian life during a conflict that THEY STARTED and THEY COULD HAVE ENDED at anytime. How is that a genocide!
