I read a a lot of responses so here goes. My dad was my hero. Raised 6 kids. A Marine. But here is what I am most proud about. My dad was prejudiced and a misogynist. A product of his upbringing. But he changed. My dad (who worked as an executive for Ford) hired the first black field manager at Ford. Then he hired his secretary as the first woman field manager at Ford. He took shit for both, But he didn’t care. True story. He had dinner with the Duce and other managers. Everyone was trying to out do each other with fancy orders. It came to my dad. “Spaghetti and meatballs.” Everyone hushed. Ford II asked my dad why. “Because I like spaghetti and meatballs.” II looked at everyone at the table. “We are all having spaghetti and meatballs.” My dad was that guy. My hero.
