@Brandon_Reddy A wider network of surface rail transit instead of a single short subway line would have made the city much better, spreading out density and congestion and businesses/walkability.

Imagine thinking like this for other infrastructure projects that have lasted 60-80 years. Why did we build a hydro dam that won’t reach full capacity for another 35 years? It’s not just about commute time. It’s also capacity. Skytrain is miles ahead.

This is why surrey doesn’t have enough schools. We’re under served when it comes to hospitals and why Vancouver is generally considered a no fun city.

The amazing thing about vancouver is the city has managed to have an amazing metro despite so many of the urban thought leaders wanting a crappy tram.

Let's be honest, a driving factor to why Condon is against completing the line to UBC is because it would service the Jericho Land's project which he has been firmly against. You want more congestion and traffic, go ahead and cancel the extension in favor of a surface tram.
