We are sick and tired of war. There has to be an immediate ceasefire & negotiation between the Ethiopian Federal government and Fano / Shanee forces without any precondition to stop the untold suffering of innocent civilians particularly women and children.

President Salva Kiir and I held a bilateral discussion this evening on the issues shaping our region and shared future. We prioritized economic cooperation, exploring ways to boost investment and expand opportunities through stronger partnerships and also exchanged updates on our countries’ progress.

Ethiopia 🇪🇹 has officially broken ground on a $12.5 billion mega airport, set to become the largest in Africa. Led by Ethiopian Airlines, the new facility in Bishoftu is designed to replace the current Bole hub and position the country as a major global aviation gateway. The project reflects Ethiopia’s ambition to dominate passenger and cargo connectivity across the continent.

How many people are starving? How is the Ethiopian government doing this while not paying civil servants their salaries? According to WFP’s report, “Food insecurity and malnutrition are at alarming levels in Ethiopia, where widespread displacement, insecurity, drought risks and soaring food prices are fuelling a deepening crisis. Malnutrition is above the emergency threshold nationwide, with 4.4 million women and young children urgently needing treatment. Regional conflicts are compounding the crisis, as new refugees arrive with urgent food needs. In total, Ethiopia hosts over 1 million refugees, mainly from South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea and Sudan. Insecurity in Amhara poses direct risks to WFP and partners, and is driving up operating costs. The World Food Programme (WFP) provides food and nutrition assistance, with a plan to support 6.8 million people in 2025. However, our ability to respond to hunger needs is being severely hampered by critical funding shortfalls. Without urgent funding, 2.6 million of Ethiopia’s most vulnerable people could be cut from life-saving assistance. A culture shift in the overall national delivery of services is required. As part of our five development pillars, we have embraced technology as an enabler in the service sector to improve efficiency and accessibility. Only recently have we begun implementing a one-stop center approach to service delivery. However, the level of satisfaction achieved through MESOB services clearly demonstrates the value of this model, underscoring the need for further expansion. The launch of the MESOB mobile service today is a clear reflection of this continued progress. We will continue to expand these integrated services to ensure more efficient use of time and to deliver meaningful time savings for our citizens.
