The Downfall Of Inflated Ego‼️
An inflated ego, often masquerading as unshakeable confidence, poses a profound danger by distorting one’s perception of reality and eroding the foundations of genuine success and relationships. When the self becomes overly enlarged, it blinds individuals to their limitations and flaws, leading to reckless decisions, poor judgment, and an unwillingness to learn from mistakes or seek advice.
Ultimately, an unchecked ego invites downfall by prioritizing self-image over substance, stifling growth, innovation, and empathy; history and daily life are littered with tales of once-promising figures whose hubris precipitated their collapse, reminding us that true strength lies not in swelling pride but in the disciplined balance of self-awareness and openness to the world beyond one’s own reflection.

We now have official EEP data that shows Bitcoin mining has nearly doubled Ethiopia’s annual net transmission grid expansion rate
Even more importantly, it has catalyzed an unprecedented level of new construction activity never before reported by EEP at this scale.
Consider this context:
Delivery of power to rural Africa, alongside combatting youth unemployment is one of the two biggest political changes in sub-Saharan Africa.
Bitcoin mining has just demonstrated it can be a viable solution for one of them
Let's dig in.
Ethiopia made $220 million from Bitcoin mining in 2024/25 which is expecting to increase to $312 million this year (source: capitalethiopia.com/2025/11/02/eep…
This electricity would otherwise have been wasted
Why?
Although Ethiopia has the capacity to generate 6 Gigawatts from the new dam, Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) hasn't yet built the transmission lines to supply all that electricity generated.
So, in the meantime the dam authorities sell electricity to Bitcoin mining companies.
These electricity sales to Bitcoin miners were 67% of EEP's total Foreign Exchange revenue last year, vastly improving profitability.
source: birrmetrics.com/ethiopia-elect…
What do they do with that unexpected extra profit?
EEP has stated repeatedly that the revenue from Bitcoin mining is used to support "infrastructure expansion" and "rural electrification" source: eep.com.et/?article=ethio…
News channel Aljazeera recently confirmed
"Ethiopia doesn't yet have the distribution network to take electricity to 1/2 the population...The idea is the fees paid by the Bitcoin miners will go towards funding the expansion of the grid."
source: youtube.com/watch?v=mqie7b…
Significantly, EEP's own data shows revenue from Bitcoin mining supported EEP's 2024/25 fiscal year
* 28,571 km new power lines built
* 8,700 substation bays installed
Source: birrmetrics.com/ethiopia-elect…
Bitcoin mining revenue has already almost doubled EEP's rate of energized network buildout from ~358 km/year average to +662 km last year.
But more important is what is in the imminent pipeline: the 28,571 km of new power lines is larger than the entire size of their grid!
source: eep.com.et/wp-content/upl…
Let's be clear, we cannot say that "Ethiopia build more than their whole grid in a year" because not all of that new capacity has been fully energized yet, so that would be an apples-for-oranges comparison.
But it is still an unprecedented rate of new construction.
The good news is that the bulk of this infrastructure constructed but not yet fully energized is not “waiting years”, it is in active commissioning right now and is expected to come online progressively over the next 12–18 months.
Source: Birr Metrics (EEP’s 2025/26 budget announcement) birrmetrics.com/electric-power…
When that new network is fully energized, the increase in the speed of energized network buildout will not be 2x. It will be substantially higher, potentially more than 10-20x the historical average as the backlog comes online.
Read that last sentence again.
A forecast 10-20x faster buildout of Ethiopia's electrical grid.
Rural electrification of Sub-Saharan Africa is a key strategic focus for over 20 global institutions and development banks, including the UN, World Bank, IRENA, African Development Bank, and Rockefeller Foundation.
It is even explicitly one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 7), where Target 7.1 calls for “universal access to affordable, reliable, and modern energy services by 2030.” Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for 85% of the world’s people still without electricity (mostly in rural areas), making this one of the biggest global priorities.
How Ethiopia is achieving this should be one of the biggest stories at the UN right now.
Far from “taking renewable power away” from people, Bitcoin mining’s use of otherwise wasted renewable energy is catalyzing the accelerated delivery of electricity to rural Africa. Bitcoin mining has created a pragmatic solution to an issue that has plagued powerful global institutions for decades.
If you are still gaslighting Bitcoin mining in 2026 (based on early studies, now been widely debunked), you are no longer just uninformed. You are perpetuating harmful myths that slows down power delivery to people living without electricity.

Strategic Disagreement Reflected in UN Security Council:
Egypt Focuses on Sudan's Unity and National Security.. UAE on Sustainable Civilian Solution
The UN Security Council session on Sudan highlighted a clear strategic disagreement between Egypt's priority in preserving regional security and Sudan's unity, and the UAE's priority in achieving a sustainable civilian solution through a humanitarian truce and an international diplomatic path.
Despite the apparent agreement on the necessity of stopping the fighting and protecting civilians, the disagreement stands out in how the conflict should be addressed politically and diplomatically, stemming from conflicting strategic interests: Egypt sees a stable Sudan as protection for its borders and Nile waters, while the UAE seeks economic and military influence.
Egypt renewed its firm warning against crossing "red lines" or undermining Sudan's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, considering it a direct threat to its national security. Ambassador Ihab Awad affirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting Sudan, calling for an immediate halt to the flow of illicit weapons and mercenaries, and a humanitarian truce leading to a permanent ceasefire.
Egypt warned that the influx of arms and mercenaries is a major factor in prolonging the conflict, urging the Security Council and the international community to stop these negative interventions. It also reaffirmed support for Sudan's legitimate national institutions, stressing that the solution must be purely Sudanese without external impositions, while reviewing Cairo's diplomatic efforts to prepare the ground for a comprehensive resolution.
In contrast, Ambassador Mohammed Abu Shahab focused on the humanitarian aspect without directly responding to the Egyptian warning, affirming—as a member of the "Quartet" (UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United States)—an immediate opportunity for a humanitarian truce to deliver aid, with equal condemnation of violations by both parties, and a categorical denial of accusations against the UAE, describing them as false aimed at prolonging the war and diverting attention from responsibilities.

Kenya and Ethiopia will continue to deepen mutual cooperation while advancing regional peace and security in the Horn of Africa.
Together, we reaffirm our shared commitment to stability, dialogue, and African-led solutions; anchored in a common vision for stronger economic integration, digital growth, and shared prosperity.
Made a visit to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where I held fruitful discussions with Prime Minister @AbiyAhmedAli.
Among other key issues, we agreed to support Ethiotel and Safaricom as they explore strategic joint investment opportunities across regional markets, with the full backing of the governments of Kenya and Ethiopia.

@khaledmahmoued1 Egypt has exploited regional crises to advance its selfish interests, like it did on Palestine and Sudan but that mathematics yields undefined result when it comes to Ethiopia. Italians would give the best advice for free!!

In his speech at the Second Ministerial Conference of the "Russia-Africa" Partnership Forum, President El-Sisi said regarding Ethiopia and the Ethiopian Dam :
Egypt has no problem with its brothers in Ethiopia and does not seek escalation or hostility.
Egypt's sole demand is that its water rights in the Nile River not be harmed.
The necessity of reaching a legally binding agreement on the GERD that guarantees the rights and interests of all parties.
Egypt's policy is consistent and based on non-interference in the affairs of other countries and not destabilizing them.
Despite the dispute with Ethiopia, Egypt has never directed any threat toward it at any time.
Egypt's belief that disputes are resolved through dialogue and political solutions, not through escalation or force.

@EritreanPress It amusing how such a tiny dot (Eritrea) tries to present itself.
English

Is it wise for Eritrea to withdraw from the regional block IGAD, even if it is perceived as ineffective?
EP’s opinion: Eritrean Press argues that engagement is preferable to isolation when it comes to national interests.
While the Eritrean government has accused IGAD of becoming a tool against Eritrea, the real benefits of quitting the organisation are nevertheless none.
Remaining a member allows Eritrea to monitor potential threats and gain insights into regional dynamics. As the saying goes "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer" that reflects a military strategy where observing rivals is crucial for anticipating threats.
As a member, Eritrea has access to the agendas of closed-door meetings, providing valuable intelligence on any anti-Eritrean initiatives and the actors behind them.
Countries often seek to join regional organisations for similar reasons, even if they are geographically distant. For example, In 2023, Israel was “devastated” when its observer status at the African Union was suspended. This decision was particularly impactful for Israel as it hindered Israel's ability to engage with key regional issues and collaborate on initiatives that could enhance its influence in Africa, affecting its broader foreign policy goals in the continent.
Membership or observation in such organisations offers several advantages, including firsthand insights into operations, decision-making, and culture. It also facilitates networking with key stakeholders and leaders, which can help Eritrea address challenges within the region.
By withdrawing from IGAD, Eritrea risks losing its voice and influence in matters affecting the region, particularly since the organisation is historically led and influenced by hostile current and previous Ethiopian governments.
Without participation, Eritrea’s views or concerns may go unnoticed and unaddressed.

🚨 Potential Catastrophe in the Horn of Africa?Abiy Ahmed Ignites the Fuse of War with Eritrea on the Anniversary of Peace! 🔥😡
Today, exactly a quarter-century after the Algiers Agreement that stopped the bloodshed between Addis Ababa and Asmara...
Abiy Ahmed delivers a fiery and direct parliamentary speech: accusing Eritrea of supporting rebels, smuggling weapons, humans, and counterfeit dollars... and threatening to "shake off the enemies like lice"...
While insisting on "non-negotiable" sea access to Eritrean ports, hinting at an impending war!
The danger reaches Egypt directly, but it is prepared to confront the escalation over the Ethiopian dam and threats to navigation in Bab el-Mandeb and the Suez Canal..

@RAbdiAnalyst “There is a widespread perception in the Horn Egypt is all talk and bluster. “ Nothing less, nothing more.
English

Egypt is still deploying troops to Somalia more than a year after proclaiming it with a lot of fanfare.
Cairo is also still to 'take all necessary measures' to punish Ethiopia for commissioning the Grand Renaissance Dam (GERD).
There is a widespread perception in the Horn Egypt is all talk and bluster.
That is why Ethiopians are not bothered, and Somalis nonchalant when they hear Cairo's newest rhetoric.

“Egypt will take all necessary measures, in accordance with international law, to protect its water security,” said Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to his American counterpart Marco Rubio during a phone call held a few hours ago. He affirmed Egypt’s rejection of unilateral measures that violate international law in the Eastern Nile Basin, and stressed the importance of cooperation in line with the rules of international law to safeguard the interests of all Nile Basin countries.
Although the term “necessary measures” is broad and diplomatic, it implicitly suggests that the option of some form of military action is not being ruled out.

Passengers Call for Ethiopian Airlines Boycott
(EP) - Ethiopian Airlines, once hailed as the "Pride of Africa," has faced significant criticism from passengers worldwide since the current government appointed a military officer and political figures to lead its board.
Recent reviews (as of December 2025) show that the airline holds average ratings of around 2.2 out of 5 on platforms like PissedConsumer and Trustpilot. Over 200 complaints have been logged on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Skytrax.
Common issues include service, operational challenges, and ethical concerns, such as demands for bribes, particularly at Addis Ababa’s Bole International Airport.
Many are calling for a boycott of the airline until the government addresses these pressing issues.
