I just don’t really see the point? I feel like we have enough of that caliber of player. Just more competition amongst our rookies. Hopefully it all works out.

Wheeling not being our affiliate anymore is kind of whatever to me, maybe a little on the sad side. A small issue I see with it is that the Everblades are in Florida, might make moving guys up/down between the A and ECHL a bit more difficult geographically. Is what it is but.

Everyone in Pitt says “everyone wants Rust.” Okay, then trade him for a first. Take that first plus your current first plus Koivunen or whoever and get Robertson or see if Toronto GM tells you no on Matthews. Trade Rakell too. Or just keep being the same team.

Imagine if Kyle Dubas had sold Anthony Mantha at the deadline, when he had 21 goals and 24 assists... it's almost certain we'd have enough capital to swing the trade for #4. Probably also could have pulled a #1 out of Parker Wotherspoon as well. Hindsight is 20/20...

hockey players only wanting to play in no tax states means they actively hate their fans btw. yeah their salary is paid by jerseys and tickets and tv deals but do they want a cent of that going back to the communities that spend their hard earned money on those things? fuck no

@letangcult @Flux_cc I don’t mind your logic. The problem (I think) is that Vancouver is going to want more than what I’d be willing to offer for him. Assets that I feel could be better used on a sure thing. If we can get him at a reasonable price I suppose I could get behind it

I’m fairly certain this is about Pettersson, but could be about Matthews. The Penguins possess cap to burn and the time to rehabilitate Pettersson’s game. He may thrive when he doesn’t have to be “the guy.”

@cyclnvancouver @Thompsonalysis The jock tax is a thing you are correct. But when you aren’t being taxed for the 50% of games you play at home vs other teams who must pay for 100% (not counting the games you play in zero tax states ofc) then that’s still a huge advantage.

@Thompsonalysis They actually get taxed in every state that they play games. That makes the 0% tax states less important.

@letangcult @Flux_cc Id rather take risks on players that dont have possible locker room issues or health issues (Patrick Laine). Thats like adding another variable into whats already a reclamation project. If were spending assets to acquire big names then they better produce here. If hes cheap maybe

@KyleCryptoLand @CoulditBe_BailE I could be completely wrong (and some of the info about teams' "interest" could've been deliberately leaked) but I don't think they'd have *that* much trouble moving Nurse if they didn't care about the return, someone would take him (SJ, ANH, CBJ, PHI, DET)

Darnell Nurse is an ok middle pairing D whose perception was tanked by his awful contract (& lots of high leverage hockey) but I still don’t see how getting his age 31-35 seasons makes any sense for the Pens. Oilers don’t have any good ‘sweeteners’ & he might not even require one

@KyleCryptoLand @DanHoppOPS I get that. That would be ideal. I doubt edm offers that considering shedding cap is the entire reason theyd want to move him. Cap flexibility is always valuable I get that, I just don’t see that happening

@CoulditBe_BailE @DanHoppOPS The reason I want retention is to make Nurse himself flippable at the TDL I think he can be a reasonable 2nd pair guy or a very effective 3rd pair - but no one will trade for that if he’s at 9.25M hit A $4ish cap hit makes him trade bait if he can perform in a 2nd pair role
