Everyone in Pitt says “everyone wants Rust.” Okay, then trade him for a first.
Take that first plus your current first plus Koivunen or whoever and get Robertson or see if Toronto GM tells you no on Matthews.
Trade Rakell too.
Or just keep being the same team.

Triolo is a living breathing example of Cherington's complete ineptitude as a GM... just keep rolling him out there, results be damned, somehow their 'deepest group of position players' doesn't have an alternative.

Jared Triolo has put up a .323/.425/.490 .914 & 2 HR, 11 xbh in 114 PAs since the Hayes trade. Also w a career-best walk rate. I wouldn’t bet on either sustaining it. #Pirates

@BobSmizik I said that here at the time. There was just no reason to remove a starter who was pitching well. Yet another example of the Pirates making a move to look 'smart' and having it blow up on them

Pirates fans got a three-year Andrew McCutchen reunion tour. That's great. But they never won more than 76 games. I respect what he's meant to this franchise and city, but he's 39 and, at some point, you have to look at different/better ways to win, even if it means moving on.

When Paul Skenes commands his breaking pitches, he’s unhittable. When he loses that command, he’s a very good pitcher and fierce competitor whose pitch count sits him down early. Lost his command tonight in bottom 3.

The Penguins have been walking the line of "all-in" and "rebuild" for years. But bringing Malkin back should make them solely focused on winning one more Cup in the short term. First call of duty: get Connor McDavid or Auston Matthews. If you bring Malkin back, you go all-in.
