The genius of NATO is that it quietly did the impossible: it helped end the Cold War, anchored Europe’s peace, & still stands as the West’s strongest insurance policy. The UK has an historic chance to lead NATO Europe & prove it remains our security cornerstone. We must not fail.

Trump wants to rip up NATO because we refuse to be dragged into his illegal war.

This conflict will result in a stronger allied military. The US will no longer be the policeman of the world. The citizens never wanted that role. Europe will spend much more as will our allies in Asia.

Forget the whole multipolar galaxy brain 💩 It all comes down to this: Europe needs to hurry up and decide if they are going to stand side by side with America or get on their knees for China… Without Europe America can’t still be Superman and there is no credible backing for SE Asian countries who want to resist China. If the west splits, they will all fall in line for Beijing. Europe can remain self absorbed with losing in Ukraine if they want, but the rest of the world (including Africa and the Middle East) is watching and waiting.

My brother @EnochBurke has spent over 600 days in jail for refusing to bow to transgenderism. Today my mother Martina and sister Ammi were arrested and jailed - for having the courage and conviction to call out the lies and treachery of judges who have ignored the constitution and imposed LGBTQ+ tyranny on our country. It’s shocking to see them put into a van today and taken away like criminals. But we are seeing the true face of LGBT ideology and those who enforce it - anyone who dares to live by their Christian beliefs must be crushed. Shame on the church leaders who have been utterly silent on this issue. Like Judas of old they have grasped their few pieces of silver and betrayed Christ and His truth through their silence and indifference.
BUT THE TRUTH WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED.

BREAKING: Enoch Burke’s mother and sister arrested and jailed Martina and Ammi Burke were arrested by Gardaí today at Castlerea Prison after visiting jailed schoolteacher Enoch Burke, their son and brother. Judge Brian Cregan sentenced them to two weeks in prison after they spoke out against his lies and unlawful actions in the case of Enoch Burke. Martina and Ammi Burke had been teaching in Castlebar this morning before travelling to Castlerea for their scheduled visit at 2.15pm. As they left the prison after concluding the visit, Gardaí were waiting outside to arrest them. Lies have been told from the bench since September 2022 when Enoch Burke was first taken from his teaching post at Wilson’s Hospital School and thrown into a jail cell. He refused to call a student by a new name and the “they” pronoun. He was subsequently suspended and has now spent over 600 days in prison. Ireland’s church leaders have maintained a treacherous silence on this issue. Archbishops Eamon Martin and John McDowell speak frequently about battlefields far away - Gaza, Ukraine, the Middle East - but are silent on the battlefields in the schools of Ireland, on their own doorstep. Children in the classroom are being educated in every form of sexual perversion. Martina and Ammi Burke have now been sent to Mountjoy Women’s Prison because they refused to be silent in the face of gross injustice from the bench. Parents, rise up and speak out for your sons and your daughters.

I made a joke earlier about how there’s this expectation on Trump that if he launches a war, he needs to accomplish all of his objectives in zero time, while spending zero resources with zero casualties with zero negative consequences.
But that actually is fast becoming the standard some Americans are using for US military action. That is totally unreasonable and will hamstring the US military. Especially if it involves a hard but necessary fight, such as defending Taiwan if China invades.
There is a reason we honor our troops, and that’s because they risk everything for the safety and preservation of our freedoms.

I criticize the CCP a lot, but credit where credits due—they’ve lifted 800 million people out of poverty. China today has beautiful cities with light shows you don’t see anywhere in America. And while the US goes around bombing other countries, China’s commitment to a peaceful rise and a multipolar world order is genuinely admirable. The US can no longer be the sole power broker on the international stage and I’m grateful for the UN.

I think Europe should pre-empt Trump and threaten to kick the U.S. out of NATO. The Ukrainians, Finns, Turks and Poles - and the camp followers (Brits, French, Germans etc al) should be enough to stop the Russians.

it surprises me the number of people who don't seem to think there will be any economic benefit to destroying Iran's offensive capabilities. Some argue that Iran will retain its capabilities and others claim that Iran isn't the real enemy. On the hand you have people like Jamie Dimon of $JPM who say that this action is well worth the cost and the economy will benefit greatly in the long run. I think too many people are blinded by political bias and are willing to ignore the obvious facts.

The problem with casting a closer relationship with Europe as the solution to the world's current economic malaise is that it kind of misses the point.
The key problem at present is a shortage of ENERGY.
Europe has an energy deficit.
Up until 2022 it filled that gap with gas from Russia.
Now it fills that gap with gas (and oil) from the US and Middle East.
It swapped one dependency for another.
We can debate whether that dependency is inevitable, the extent to which it's a function of geology and/or political decisions taken years ago.
Regardless, right now Europe is highly exposed to the problems in the Gulf. And without US energy imports it is in BIG trouble.
A closer relationship between the UK and the EU does not solve this conundrum.

A former US military adviser said what most analysts are thinking: Trump’s war on Iran has alienated every ally America has left. Not some. All of them.
Military victories can be measured in targets destroyed. This defeat cannot. It is happening in foreign ministries, in trade corridors, in quiet conversations between leaders who no longer trust Washington to behave like a serious country.
The United States turned against its allies. The tariffs came first. Then the threats against Greenland. Then the abandonment of Ukraine. Now a unilateral war that nobody signed up for, followed by demands that everyone join in anyway.
When you spend years burning bridges, do not be surprised when nobody comes to your war.
The military result in Iran is still uncertain. The strategic result is not.
America is alone. And it got there fast.

Trump will say he's thinking of taking US out of NATO but the National Defense Authorization Act of 2024 prohibits a President from widrawing from a treaty alliance without the consent of Congress - and he doesnt have the votes - not that that will stop him from saying it
