On #RemembranceDay, we pause to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve our country. I also want to recognize the #OPP members who have proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces, as well as those who have represented the OPP in United Nations Police and European Union-led peacekeeping missions around the world. Their dedication to protecting others and promoting peace reflects the core values of policing and public service. We remember their bravery, their commitment, and the freedoms they helped secure. Lest we forget.

After nearly three decades, four women now have the answers they deserve thanks to the tireless work of #OPPCIB, Lambton and Essex #OPP Crime Unit, Emergency Response Team and Forensic Identification Services, as well as the Centre of Forensic Sciences, @SarniaPolice, @RCMPGRCpolice, @VancouverPD and @CalgaryPolice. With the power of DNA technology and the persistence of officers and our partners, answers emerged from years of silence. No matter how much time passes, the #OPPremains committed to holding offenders accountable and protecting our communities from further victimization. #PublicSafety

The OPP has laid murder charges against three people in connection with a missing person case in the Smiths Falls area. Robbie THOMSON was reported missing in October 2023. His body has not been located, but the investigation has determined that THOMSON was the victim of a homicide. On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, as a result of the ongoing investigation, members of the Lanark County OPP Crime Unit, Smiths Falls Police Service, the OPP Emergency Response Team and OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit arrested three people. Kingston Police assisted with one of the arrests. A 48-year-old man and 40-year-old woman from Montague Township and a 34-year-old man from Kingston have each been charged with one count of first-degree murder. They remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in court for bail hearings on Thursday, October 30th. The investigation by the Lanark OPP, in partnership with the Smiths Falls Police Service, is continuing, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Residents of Kelly Jordan Road, northeast of Smiths Falls, can expect to see a large police presence at a residence as part of this investigation. There is no risk to public safety. If you have any information that could assist investigators, call the dedicated tipline at 1-855-677-4636. On Halloween Eve, keep the scares in the costumes- not your home. Test your smoke alarms monthly. Ensure you have working batteries. Place them on every level of your home and outside all sleeping areas. Practice your escape plan. No tricks, just lifesaving tips.

#DidYouKnow when you dial 9-1-1 through VoIP, your call will be answered by your service provider’s call centre first? They’ll ask you to provide some details before transferring your call to the appropriate Primary Public Safety Answering Point (P-PSAP). Once this occurs, your call is linked into the 9-1-1 system where you can request assistance from police, fire, or ambulance. Listen carefully, speak clearly and try to remain calm. #Be911Ready

Fall can bring heavy rain, wind and thunderstorms. Take shelter during a thunderstorm and remain inside for at least 30 minutes after the last rumble of thunder. Avoid running water in your house as lightning can enter through pipes and plumbing. ontario.ca/page/thunderst…
