This is extremely concerning Certified Master Home Inspector says “There is something very big going on in my profession that affects almost every homeowner in this country. This includes anybody buying a home, selling a home, realtors, this all affects you Right now, right this minute, as I'm talking to you, there is a corporate takeover of all of the software that runs home inspection companies, and I'm gonna explain why it matters to you.” Home inspectors are legally required to keep findings, reports, addresses, defects, and client personal information (name, phone, email) These companies will now have access to all this data, and these monopolies work in multiple Industries and also sell data This aggregated data could then be used for rate adjustments by affiliated companies (insurance, lenders, warranties, security), marketing, underwriting and more Everything will likely be used to increase prices across multiple industries

After yesterday’s post I went down a rabbit hole. Here’s what I found: Private equity now owns 30%+ of vet clinics. Up from 8% a decade ago. 75% of emergency and specialty care is corporate owned. Vet bills are up 60% in 10 years. The model is pay or euthanize. And it doesn’t matter if your vet is independent. The predatory pricing spread industry wide. Over 2,000 stories in the comments from people. My heart is heavy. Before you need emergency care, Google your vet’s parent company. Know what you’re walking into. And also… take your dog on the vacation, the beach run, the inconvenient extra packing, planning, whatever. Take them and do all the things. I am full of grief wishing I would have done so many things way more often, despite being wrapped in a very busy season of motherhood and business.
Mindi@hey_mindi

There is something catastrophically wrong with Americas vet business. I sat for 3 hours yesterday with our 11 year old dog. Test after test. I kept signing financial agreement papers, desperate to find an answer to what’s wrong. Every step of the way, a thorough explanation of the need to do xyz. Always with the sentence at the end “that runs $____” Sign this. By the end of the 3 hours, my choices were pay $5000 to admit her for the rest of the afternoon or put her down. I couldn’t think straight. I walked in with her hours prior thinking she just had some little bug that would be simple to resolve. I can’t stop thinking about how many people would have to choose option 2, because $5000 out of left field isn’t possible to pay. I also can’t believe that I was forced to sit and watch a 14 min vaccine commercial reel on repeat for 3 hours while I contemplated our devastating circumstances. This can’t be the norm. If you have a prayer, I humbly ask if you’d lift our family up this Easter Sunday.

Pella, Iowa is the kind of town where windmills turn above brick streets, bakeries still make everything from scratch, and time feels like it slowed down on purpose.

As a restaurant owner I am forced to charge an additional sales tax and meals tax for every purchase. If I make a good product that people are willing to pay for, the government profits off of my labor. The more I make, the more they make. In fact, the government makes more off of my business than I do. How does that make sense? They also don’t pay me a dime to collect their tax. What’s even more wild is if I don’t pay them the tax I collect for them by a certain day each month, they charge me interest & penalties. Tell me how this is any different from the mafia. Small businesses should ban together and refuse to collect their taxes.

I went back to read the resurrection accounts of Matthew and John this morning and noticed something interesting. The first words out of Jesus’ mouth after the resurrection were “go tell my brothers.” And it brought me to tears. Matthew 28:10. Read it slowly. The stone has just rolled back. Death has just been defeated for the first time in human history. The most consequential moment in the cosmos has just occurred. And the risen King opens his mouth and calls us brothers. But Matthew alone might not stop you. So go to John 20:17, where he tells Mary what to tell them: “I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” He does not say “the Father.” He does not say “God.” He says MY Father is now YOUR Father. MY God is now YOUR God. He rises and the first thing he does is redistribute the inheritance. This is where most people misread the resurrection. They treat it as a power demonstration. Jesus proved he was God. Jesus showed death who was boss. And those things are true but they are not the point. The point is what he did with the power once he had it. Because what I have learned in my few years on earth is that when men have power, the immediate instinct is to reclassify. The people who were their peers become subordinates. The people who called you brother now call you sir. We have seen it in offices, in governments, in churches. Elevation changes vocabulary. The higher a man rises the lonelier the pronoun “we” becomes. Jesus rose to the highest position in the universe and his vocabulary did not change. He came back and said brothers. He said your Father. He said our God. He reclassified upward. He used his exaltation not to press us into subjects but to pull us into sons. This is the actual consequence of the resurrection: ADOPTION. A dead savior cannot make you a son. A dead elder brother cannot bring you into the family. He had to conquer death because brothers share in each other’s life and he could not give us what he had not first secured himself. Romans 8:29 calls him the firstborn among many brothers. Firstborn means there are others coming. You are not a spectator of his resurrection. You are its intended outcome. The crowned King looked across the infinite chasm between his holiness and your humanity and the word he chose was not “subject.” It was not “servant.” It was not even “beloved.” He said brother. On the other side of death, with all authority in heaven and earth, he said brother. So celebrate today for everything it is. Celebrate the empty tomb, celebrate the vindication of a man the world tried, condemned, and buried, and whom heaven refused to leave in the ground. Celebrate the sins that are gone and the immeasurable, uncontainable, universe-rearranging power of God on full display. But do not miss the most beautiful thing. He did not just cancel your debt. He gave you a name. He did not just acquit you. He adopted you. Forgiveness would have been everything. Sonship is more than everything. And he gave us both. The risen King called us brothers. That means the Father he returned to is the Father we are returning to. That means the glory he walked into is the glory we are walking toward. That means Easter is not just the day Jesus won. It is the day you inherited everything he won it for. Hallelujah! He is risen.

The most dangerous lie in human history isn’t about food. It isn’t about medicine. It is about sleep. For 200,000 years, humans did not sleep 8 hours. That number was invented in 1938 by a mattress company called Simmons Beautyrest. Before that campaign, the average human slept in two shifts. Historians call it “Biphasic Sleep.” You would sleep for 4 hours, wake up for 2, then sleep for another 4. During that 2-hour window, people would pray, have s*x, write, think, and connect with their families. Some of the greatest works in human history were created in that sacred middle window. Shakespeare wrote most of his plays between 1AM and 3AM during his second wake period. Mozart composed entire symphonies in what he called “The God Hours.” Then the Industrial Revolution needed workers on a fixed schedule. You cannot run a factory on biphasic sleep. So they hired a psychologist named Dr. Nathaniel Kleitman to “prove” that 8 consecutive hours was the biological standard. He faked the studies. He was funded entirely by the mattress industry. And the medical establishment adopted his research without question because it aligned with the factory model. They turned the most creative 2 hours of human consciousness into a “sleep disorder.” They called it “Insomnia.” They medicated it. They gaslight an entire generation that 8 hours of continuous sleep was healthy. They pathologized the exact window of consciousness that produced some of the greatest art, music, and literature in human history. You are not an insomniac. You are experiencing the most natural form of human consciousness. And a mattress company convinced you it was a disease. Stop medicating your genius. Wake up at 2AM. Write the thing. The “God Hours” are calling. ✨🙌🏾💫 © Andre Gonzalves

Just a reminder, the resurrection of Jesus Christ has more surviving eyewitness testimony than: · Hannibal crossing the Alps · The eruption of Mt. Vesuvius · The trial and death of Socrates · Alexander the Great’s conquests · Julius Caesar crossing the Rubicon

If Jesus died and never rose again, Christianity would just be another sad story of a good man gone too soon. No power. No victory. No hope. The gospel is not just that Jesus died. Many people died. The difference is this, He didn’t stay in the grave. The resurrection is the proof. Proof that sin was actually paid for. Proof that death was actually defeated. Proof that everything He said about Himself is true. Take away the resurrection and what do we have left. A message with no life. Faith with no foundation. Hope with no assurance. This is why in 1 Corinthians 15, Paul says if Christ is not raised, our faith is useless. Not weak, useless. But He is risen. And that changes everything. It means your past is not stronger than His grace. It means your sin is not greater than His sacrifice. It means death does not get the final say. We do not serve a memory. We do not follow a fallen leader. We serve a living Savior. That is the gospel.

Easter reminds me of Lakota leader Spotted Tail being asked if he knew about Jesus—“I’ve heard all about him, how good he was, the great things he did. I also heard how the White man killed him. We never would’ve done that—we never would have murdered the Son of the Great Spirit”
