@EmoryARC
The Emory Antibiotic Resistance Center fights "superbugs" by tracking them, figuring out how they work, preventing their spread, and finding ways to kill them.

This is why we need new targets instead of just endlessly tweaking compounds. NDM-9 resistance to taniborbactam pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36796395/

Unfortunately we detected a LOT of heteroresistance to cefepime-taniborbactam among metallo-beta-lactamase encoding CRE (29/34 strains). Worse - most of it undetected by standard testing. Congrats @abbott_carter on your hard work and these important data. Thanks @TheLancetInfDis

Exciting news! I'm happy to announce I've been appointed as the Thomas J. Lawley, MD Professor in Dermatology! I'm so proud to carry on Dr. Lawley's great legacy of service & leadership in medicine. Thank you @EmoryMedicine & to my amazing colleagues at @EmoryDerm !

New! Gram- cells need lipoproteins to build their surface. LolA & LolB deliver these in E.coli. But many species only have LolA - where's LolB? For Caulobacter, LolB is... LolA! It's a bifunctional protein! We can even tweak E.coli LolA to do double duty! pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
