There is a legitimate argument that Ketanji Brown Jackson’s appointment to the Supreme Court — which President Joe Biden specifically said was directly intended to put a black woman on the Supreme Court — was unconstitutional under federal law.

Roughly 220 billionaires reside in California. They employ roughly 10 million people. If a wealth tax passes, everyone with a billion-dollar idea will think twice about whether they want to build that business in California. But that isn’t even the most dangerous part. When this turns out to raise less money than expected, the bar will be lowered to $100 million. Then $50 million. Then $10 million. Then $1 million. They’ll call it “the millionaire tax.” And since ~80% of the California population isn’t a millionaire, they’ll vote it into existence because “it doesn’t affect them.” But many of those “millionaires” are providing jobs. Housing. Innovation. Buying products and services. They’re a net economic benefit. If you discourage them from living in California, they will leave. Then it becomes a downward spiral where they have to tax everyone else to stay afloat. Not saying the system is perfect. But a simpler solution might simply be: spend less money and encourage more people to move back / create a billion dollar idea.

BREAKING: California's one-time "billionaire wealth tax" all but officially confirmed to be on the ballot. 93% chance.

Women love to take credit for things men actually did. Quick story One of my girlfriends found out she’s having a baby.
The SECOND my husband sees her, he goes: “It’s a boy.” Weeks later… confirmed. It’s a boy. Suddenly every woman in the group:
“I KNEW it.”
“I felt it.”
“I said that in my head.” Oh… in your head? Convenient. Meanwhile, the only person who actually said it out loud in front of y’all, was my husband.🤣 This is why men don’t argue. They just sit back and watch the story change in real time.

Kurt Supe, CPA & Retirement Planner
A retiree walks in and says, “I want to pay off my mortgage.” I explain, “You’re at 3.25%. Your portfolio has averaged well over 7% long term. Keeping the mortgage still makes sense. They reply, “I hear you, but I don’t care. I want it gone.” This happens constantly with retirees. The math says keep the low-rate debt. Their gut says wipe it out. Why? Many grew up with Depression-era parents who taught them: Debt is dangerous. Banks will take everything. Own your home free and clear. That old programming doesn’t care what the spreadsheet says. As a young advisor I used to fight this battle. Now I don’t. If being debt-free lets you sleep at night, that peace of mind is worth something. My job isn’t to talk you out of it. My job is to help you do it the smartest way possible without wrecking your retirement plan. Not financial, tax, or legal advice. Results are not guaranteed and individual circumstances vary. All scenarios are hypothetical composites for educational purposes only and do not represent any specific client or outcome.

Bill Maher asks how the government is “failing the poor so badly” when he pays “60 PERCENT” of his earnings in taxes. “Last week was tax day… I paid the government probably almost 60% of what I earn. That’s a lot.” “And I… wouldn’t mind if Bernie Sanders would stop saying the rich don’t pay taxes.” “The top 10% pay 72% of all federal income taxes. And the bottom half, 3%.” “The Democratic Socialists talk about socialism like we don’t already have a lot: Social Security, unemployment, Medicare, nutritional assistance, Medicaid, Obamacare, disability, housing subsidies.” “How can you be soaking the rich and failing the poor so badly? How can it be that the federal government alone took in over 5 trillion in taxes last year, and we still need that?” “Are we really this incompetent and corrupt?”

It appears she was in her current position for about 4 years. That isn't long. I don't know her financial situation (nor does anyone else on this site) but there are plenty of people, for various reasons, who have to work well past age 57. And she does not come off entitled in the article (where she plays a very minor role), so I'm not sure where you're getting that part.

I didn’t like USAID. But watching people gleefully mock a woman for having to start over at ~60 is bleak. You can disagree with someone’s politics without losing basic empathy. The internet has broken a lot of brains.

@ConnerBean It completely depends on what you are doing with your money. 1. You need to figure out what you are supposedly saving or how much extra you have do to the leverage. 2. Then you need to make that work for more than the low mortgage. Any other way & you are just pissing it away

Paying off mortgages early is one of those things where I respect and acknowledge the math, but the math doesn't take into account the psychological benefits of not owing money to anybody and owning your house outright
The Money Cruncher, CPA@money_cruncher

My coworker has a 1.99% mortgage. That is something you should NEVER pay off early. Inflation is at least 3%/yr. Why would anyone pay that off aggressively? It makes absolutely 0 sense.

@ScottBarrettDFB If athleticism doesn't matter & you are just comparing physical traits then there would hundreds of thousands of guys that should be drafted in the first round as WR. 😂 By this standard I have the physical traits of CMC, Bijan & Gibbs. Athleticism IS what matters & separates🤦🏻‍♂️

Jeff Caldwell is inarguably the closest thing we've ever seen to Calvin Johnson based on athletic testing, and yet, he's supposed to go.... Round 5 or Round 6 in the Draft? Pretty crazy I know I'm the "athleticism doesn't matter for WRs" guy, but this is literally the most athletic WR ever (99.9 SPORQ)

It's a waste of time and all it does is tire you out. A sample program is attached here. Done once every 5 days. Upper Lower Cardio Break Break Repeat

Thanks to porn, pot, and sports gambling, there’s not a great pool to begin with if you have certain standards for a husband. Then consider the number of men happy to cohabitate with a woman for years (prime fertility years often) & only vaguely speak of marriage. Then break up. Women are far from perfect, but if you want to solve fertility crisis, it’s way more about men than “girl bosses”.
Melanie Notkin@SavvyAuntie

"Women aged 18-55 say the top reason they aren’t reaching their desired fertility is inability to find a spouse" Been saying this for over 15 years. In fact, I wrote a book about it. (OTHERHOOD, 2014)

What if there was a bank account available, that required you to deposit monthly, what you would have paid an insurance company in premiums, for an ACA silver plan. So for a family of 5 about $2100. The amount would then be used for Stop Loss Insurance set at $30k dollars. About $300. Another $200 would be used for local Direct Primary Care for your family The balance would be in YOUR bank account. Like an HSA, It could only be used for approved medical expenses. If you never have any medical expenses, you will get to keep the money plus checking act level interest, when you turn 65 If you have a medical event that is more than what you have saved, your bank will loan you the money you need to pay for it, up to the $30k stop loss trigger You would repay that amount using the monthly $1600 net deposit. Once the loan is paid off, the deposits start to accrue to you again. This is not insurance. It’s a specially designed bank account that gives you control, support, a doctor to work with and catastrophic financial protection. Lots of work and issues to be addressed. But I was curious what people think Let me know !
Mark Cuban@mcuban

The one debt you can’t ever pay off ? Your insurance premiums. You literally will pay an insurance premium monthly, till you die. But we don’t look at it like it’s a debt paid to an insurance company that will do all it possibly can never spend it on your care. We are working on a non -insurance solution. The day HSAs no longer require an insurance policy, it all will change. finance.yahoo.com/sectors/health…

The 7 Baby Steps are: 1. Save $1,000 for your starter emergency fund. 2. Pay off all debt (except for the house) using the debt snowball. 3. Save 3 to 6 months of expenses in a fully funded emergency fund. 4. Invest 15% of your household income in retirement. 5. Save for your children’s college fund. 6. Pay off your home early. 7. Build wealth and give.
