> Iran just proved it has operational IRBMs with ~4,000–4,500 km range, far beyond its acknowledged official 2,000 km cap > First direct strike on US/UK assets outside the Middle East (Diego Garcia is in the Indian Ocean). > One missile failed, one intercepted by US Navy SM-3 > probably a retaliatory strike for Starmer allowing the Americans to use British bases for strikes to help reopen Strait of Hormuz > Iran now credibly threatens Central Europe too, not just Israel/Gulf

Bigger story here: implied range of an Iranian IRBM from a launch box in central Iran, with a range of ~4500 km (distance to Diego Garcia). Theoretically could also target sites into Central Europe.

⚠️Ukrainian instructors sent to assist in the Middle East are shocked by how the US intercepts targets, according to The Times According to Ukrainian officers and instructors from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who were involved in the defense of the Gulf countries, "the US launched as many as 8 Patriot missiles at a single enemy target, each costing over 3 million dollars," and also: "I don't understand what they were doing, what they were watching for four years while we’ve been at war."
