The EU has provisionally approved the 90 Billion Euro ($106 Billion USD) two-year military loan for Ukraine as well as the 20th EU sanctions package against Russia, with the agreement now awaiting confirmation. Slovakia has decided not to block the aid package, with them, Hungary, and the Czech Republic being exempt from participating in the joint borrowing of money to lend to Ukraine. It's likely that the EU intends to use the 210 billion Euros of frozen Russian central bank assets for repayment. This comes as Ukraine restarted oil pumping into Hungary and Slovakia, with the first oil expected to arrive by tomorrow. This aid package is expected to cover around two-thirds of Ukraine's defence spending for the next two years. Ukraine will receive the first 45 Billion Euros in 2026, and the 45 Billion in 2027.

If the EU could use frozen Russian assets to repay the loan, it would have done so long ago. But it's not working. So, Europeans will pay for everything: with their pensions, social benefits, and healthcare. Now all of this will be cut to plug the holes in European countries' budgets.

What you are referring to is in the first article, which says we will RESPECT the independence, not protect it

🇷🇺🇺🇦 Interesting footage from the frontline. A drunk Ukrainian resident stumbles upon a Russian FPV drone waiting to strike an AFU vehicle. The drone operator first confuses him for a soldier, but then realized he was a civilian and let him go.

Because I'm a realist, therefore I don't think Russia has any good, ethical intentions in Ukraine. What I want is a neutral, democratic Ukraine where they are free of Russian and western influence. I want the best for Ukraine and Ukrainians, and I don't think Russia could care less about that as long as they can achieve their strategic geopolitical gains. And I don't morally want any Finlandization. I just think tactically speaking, it is the better option to preserve Ukrainian statehood and put an end to a war whose outcome in terms of who wins is effectively set in stone. I just don't want any more people to die, and I don't want any more destruction.

I keep seeing people ask me why I'm still Pro-Ukraine after being constantly harassed, doxxed, and insulted by other Pro-Ukrainians. The reality is, those people aren't actually Pro-Ukraine. They don't give a shit about Ukraine or Ukrainians, and only care about how many Russians they get to see being killed on FPV drone kill-cams each day. Do you ever wonder why these people (most of which aren't even Ukrainian) never post or talk about Ukrainian struggles with manpower and command issues and only ever amplify successes? It's because they would rather stay in their comfy little information echo-chamber where they cannot face realities. These people are NOT pro-Ukraine. I've supported Ukraine since 2022, and haven't really changed much since then. Of course I know a lot more now compared to back then, but my opinions on the war and what I think Ukraine should do (tactically speaking) have ONLY adapted IN RESPONSE to changing realities. I separate my moral and analytical opinions so my judgement isn't clouded by emotion, which allows me to objectively analyse things and come to conclusions from there. So while I personally haven't changed much (relative to how Ukraine is doing), these people who claim to support Ukraine HAVE changed since 2022, are now happy to continue seeing the destruction of entire generations of Ukrainians and their nation as a whole, just so they can hurt Russia a little more and see some more oil refineries go boom. That is NOT supporting Ukraine or Ukrainians. Additionally, even if everyone (including true Pro-Ukrainians) hated me, I still wouldn't abandon my values. So with that being said, I hope this horrible war ends soon so all this death and destruction can come to an end. But unfortunately, what I want does not equal what will happen, and that's something most people seem to have failed to grasp.

The Kazakhs have a nontrivial amount of leverage over Russia (Baikonur is in Kazakhstan lol) but their oil shipments specifically have been repeatedly attacked by Ukraine - this simply going through suggests they're fed up with Euro-Ukrainian games and have finally chosen a side.

Gestern wurde ich von meiner Fraktion zum verteidigungspolitischen Sprecher gewählt. Ich freue mich darauf, diese Aufgabe gemeinsam mit meinem Stellvertreter Andreas Paul wahrzunehmen und danke für das Vertrauen. Wir werden die Bundesregierung nicht nur an der Erreichung der von ihr selbst gesteckten Ziele messen, sondern eigene Konzepte für Bundeswehr und Verteidigungspolitik vorlegen. Deutschland muss ein verlässlicher NATO-Partner bleiben, mit den USA als einem seiner engsten Partner. Gleichzeitig muss Europa aber sicherheitspolitisch handlungsfähiger werden. In einer gesunden Partnerschaft kann jeder auch auf eigenen Beinen stehen. Für Europa lässt sich das derzeit sicherheitspolitisch leider nicht sagen. Europa muss die Fähigkeit zur Entwicklung modernster Waffensysteme haben. Hier sind beispielhaft Kampfflugzeuge der 6. Generation, weitreichende Waffensysteme, aber auch IT-Fähigkeiten wie KI und Cloud-Computing zu nennen. Wir brauchen auch tragfähige Konzepte, um unsere Ressourcenversorgung sicherzustellen, und müssen an Substituten für Rohstoffe forschen, die uns sehr abhängig von einzelnen Staaten machen. Für eine Exportnation wie Deutschland, die über wenig eigene Rohstoffe verfügt, sind funktionierende Lieferketten wichtig. Die kann man auch durch unbedachte Politik gefährden. Sicherheitspolitische Entscheidungen müssen im Einklang mit verschiedenen, klar gewichteten nationalen Interessen getroffen werden. In Abgrenzung zu dieser und den letzten deutschen Bundesregierungen gewichte ich dabei Sicherheit, Souveränität und den Wohlstand Deutschlands höher als das internationale Durchsetzen westlicher Werte. Ich trete daher für einen pragmatischen Umgang mit anderen Staaten ein und mache das an einem Beispiel fest: Machtprojektion bis in den Indopazifik ist nicht Aufgabe der Bundeswehr und nicht im deutschen Interesse. Sicherheitspolitik ist mehr als die Anzahl der Panzer und Soldaten, über die ein Staat verfügt. Ohne eine starke Wirtschaft ist ein Land nicht leistungsfähig. Auch aus verteidigungspolitischer Sicht muss man sich also vehement für Veränderungen in anderen Ressorts einsetzen. Wir brauchen ein Ende wirtschaftsschädlicher Klimamaßnahmen, einen Bürokratieabbau und allgemein eine Entlastung unserer Unternehmen. Eine starke Wirtschaft ermöglicht erst eine starke Bundeswehr.

If 30k+ were being killed per month, that would mean *total casualties* would have to be on the order of 100-120k. 120k casualties per month is simply comical and would be impossible to hide in any way. It dwarves the casualties of most WW2 campaigns and would approach Soviet monthly casualties on the Eastern Front, despite USSR having an army with millions of men.

Orban hat (massiv) verloren In einem Erdrutschsieg eroberte die von der EU gepushte Tisza eine 2/3 Mehrheit und kann nun das Aufbauwerk von Fidesz seit 2010 sukzessive abbauen. Vielleicht schreiben sie sogar die Osterverfassung Orbans wieder um - und machen Ungarn zu einem linksliberalen Musterstaat. Während Magyar Ungarn in die EU assimiliert, wird man das Land vermutlich mit Geldern überschütten und ihm bei der Umsetzung von Asylantenumverteilung, Hatespeechzensur und Genderindoktrinierung eine Gnadenfrist lassen - damit keine Unruhe im Land entsteht. Woran lag es? Ich stimme vielen rechten Analysten nicht zu: Orban war wirtschaftspolitisch von Anfang an chancenlos. Ein kleiner Binnenstaat ohne Ressourcen und Tourismus, der von der EU mit Sanktionen und Mittelentzug erwürgt wird kann seinem Volk keine attraktive Wirtschaft bieten. Auch die Korruption die zu verurteilen ist dürfte nicht mehr oder weniger als in jedem andern Nettoempfänger sein. Orbans einzige Chance dieser "Behandlung zu entgehen", wäre gewesen, die Grenzen zu öffnen und geopolitische mitzuspielen. Dann wäre aber nicht besser als jeder andere EU-Satrape gewesen. Auch Orbans Hinwendung an raumfremde Mächte kann man ihn unter dieser Würgegriff kaum vorwerfen. Irgendwo musste er ja versuchen alternative Optionen zu schaffen um die Wohlstandserwartungen seiner Wähler zu erfüllen. Das gelang ihm sichtlich nicht. Orban hat sicher auch Fehler begangen. Aber auch wenn er fehlerlos gewesen wäre, hat er unter diesem Druck langfristig wenig Chancen. Die linksliberalen Kräfte in der EU sind noch zu stark. Ungarn konnte nicht lange genug durchhalten. Gegen Magyars Angebot: Antikorruption, Migrationskritik + EU-Gelder ist Orban im Wesentlichen machtlos. Auch den Wählern kann man keinen Vorwurf machen. Es ist verständlich, dass sie sich nach einer Wende und Verbesserung der Lebensbedingung sehnen. Das ist ja das perfide an der "Sanktionswaffe", die durch gezielte Verarmung, politische Opposition schafft. Nun kommt die Stunde der Bewährung: Orban hat gezielt in metapolitische Strukturen außerhalb des Parlaments investiert. Mit diesen Strukturen kann eine Hegemonie auch eine Wahlniederlage "überwintern". Vorausgesetzt die Phalanx organischer rechter Intellektueller wie @bekes_marton kann jetzt rasch in den Oppositionsmodus umschalten. Es war auch eine Wahlniederlage im Jahr 2002, nach der Orbans metapolitische Aufbauarbeit begann. Die Kubatov-Liste muss wieder aktiviert werden. Eine Phase der Opposition kann gerade für ein starkes metapolitisches Milieu auch belebend wirken. Die Not macht erfinderisch. Hölderlin nennt sie die "große Meisterin". "Der Greise Faust verjüngt sie wieder; Sie kömmt, wie Gottes Blitz, heran, Und trümmert Felsenberge nieder, Und wallt auf Riesen ihre Bahn." Auf dass die Not der kommenden Jahre den nationalen Block Ungarns wieder verjüngt, aktiviert und noch stärker zurückkehren lässt!
