Last night I spoke with a dog owner in a situation eerily similar to #SaveHachi. 
First offense. E☠️thanasia ordered. No alternatives considered, which is exactly what Hachi’s Law would fix. As I reviewed the court file, I saw the injury photo. In this case, the dog did bite and there was one puncture wound. The image looks gnarly. Then I read the doctor’s report. 
Shallow 1.5 cm wound. No stitches required. 🚨Using zoomed in photos without medical context to justify ☠️ should not be allowed. More to come on a dog named Jack.

I’m reviewing case after case across Texas where dogs have been labeled “dangerous” by out-of-control local governments, just like #SaveHachi. And if you think it’s only big breeds, you’d be wrong. Small terriers. French bulldogs. Family pets of all kinds. No dog is exempt. In many of these cases, the dogs harmed no one. No bite. No serious injury. Yet local governments only had to believe, without real evidence, that a dog might be dangerous. That is not public safety. That is unchecked government power, and it’s out of control.
