You guys are killing me with your "flu" posts! Let me teach you something that will actually save you this season: Go buy a bottle of 10% Povidone-Iodine and the big bottle of Xlear nasal spray (if you can only find the small bottle I'll put the amounts for it at the end of this) Get a measuring syringe and take out exactly 2.25 ml of the Iodine (If you don't have one its around exactly 45 drops) then add this to the bottle of Xlear. This creates a very safe 0.5% solution. Before going into crowds, stores, just anywhere it's "peopley" spray 2 squirts into each nostril, gently sniff! and let it drain down. When your done being in public - Repeat! If you want extra protection get a travel size bottle of antiseptic mouthwash and gargle. Look, I get the hesitation, but there's actual research on this. Scientists have tested 0.5% povidone-iodine nasal sprays in clinical trials, and people tolerated it really well—just some mild tingling at most, no real absorption into the body, and no thyroid problems. It kills viruses like Flu and COVID super fast in the nose, and studies showed it cut down viral shedding and even helped ease cold symptoms. There's even a product out there called Nasodine that uses exactly this strength because of those studies. (I just want to help you make it at home far cheaper!) It's not magic or a cure, but it's a legit, hospital-grade antiseptic that's been used safely for decades. *Small bottle of Xlear is going to need 1.1ml of Iodine, or 22 drops*
