@NIRA_Ug @Airtel_Ug, my partner faced an ordeal at the Ntinda Airtel branch! Amongst the difficulties was the fingerprint not being read! The person at airtel asked us to get a police report for a lost id yet the we had the original id with us and showed the person. This is wrong

@NIRA_Ug hello Team NIRA, I submitted 3 applications for my babies' NIN on 6th October 25. We checked on 3rd Nov and unfortunately their application was not submitted. The team assured us that they submitted. Today we checked in and the same matter arose. What can be done?

Dear valued customers, we would like to remind you that you have already been paying VAT every time you have been dining or shopping from VAT registered businesses. We would also like to inform you that there is nothing like an “18% EFRIS VAT” as indicated in this poster. We would like to emphasize that EFRIS is simply a system that is enabling URA to effectively monitor the VAT that you have already been paying. The system is here to enable businesses and the Taxman to have the same level of visibility to guarantee the integrity of VAT declarations. Previously, some VAT registered businesses (not necessarily the one in the poster) have been collecting the VAT paid by clients but not remitting it to URA fully as expected. EFRIS is here to put an end to this under/misdeclaration. VAT is an indirect tax that is paid by consumers and collected by VAT registered businesses on behalf of government. Therefore, to introduce this purported “18% EFRIS VAT’ when clients have already been paying VAT is irregular. #FfeBanno

The bill tabled before parliament does not seek to amend any of the PAYE provisions of the Income Tax Act. Where are the good people at @newvisionwire getting their information?! Kindly share.

@JonahRuhima @URAuganda Again and again and again it’s us the buyers to suffer. The traders and ura will b winning. Why should it be us the buyers to pay the 18%.

My key takeaway from today's #CapitalGang is that VAT is an indirect tax that is not paid by traders but by us, the consumers, & traders have been collecting it from us but not remitting it to @URAuganda. Why shld I pay a tax & u, as a trader, EAT it? EFRIS is to end this theft.

@KALY77005361 @JonahRuhima @URAuganda This is something that is serious. Employees have paid their fair share thru PAYE, and an employer doesn't remit to URA and embezzles it, and they get pardoned. That is totally unfair.

@JonahRuhima @URAuganda Why should employers continue the deduction of PAYE from employees salary, not remit the same but get pardoned by the govt? Where's the fairness??

@FrancisWakida @MatovuKenneth11 @URAuganda The EFRIS system can be used by all taxpayers in business whether you are registered for VAT or not. The 18% on rent in my view is due to the registration of landlords who meet the VAT threshold and are now passing it on to tenants so as to maintain their profit.

I suspect some traders are using EFRIS as a scapegoat for other issues they may be facing because truth be told the implementation of EFRIS has been ongoing since 2021 and is legally supported under Section 73A and 73B of the Tax Procedures Code Act of 2014.

@DokoloCity @NalukwagoJudith See, when VAT comes in, a traders sales will be out in the open since they have to file monthly returns... it will affect their profit, which they are resisting, but the tax laws are clear. The majority of the traders in kikuubo surpass the annual income threshold of 150m.

People gd in taxation help me understand VAT/taxes better. This 👇🏾 means I pay VAT, supplier pays VAT, supplier of supplier pays VAT. Isn’t that double taxation, given that all people in this chain up-to end consumer have to show proof of tax compliance? Educate me pls

@AgabaBukama @NalukwagoJudith @NabothKaana Exempted from VAT if it falls in the exempt list as stated in the second schedule of the VAT act. Everything is in black and white. People need to develop a habit of reading and understanding these things.

@URSBHQ while updating companies, I have come to note that documents of different companies have been mixed up. For example a company XYZ has documents of company OPQ in its file. How can this be resolved?

@URAuganda @URA_CG @nssfug @MBU @Swangz_Avenue @AzawiOfficial I wonder why the duplicate TINs came up! I have seen a situation where an Indian businessman who already had a TIN was issued another TIN and his mother's name was Akello. Due diligence needs to be done. I believe the register has a lot of duplicate TINs.
