Met with the National Gaming and Lotteries Regulatory Board Chairman, Kenneth Kitariko, and his team to advance coordination in Uganda’s gaming sector. Our shared priority is stronger oversight and compliance to support domestic revenue mobilization for national development.

Greetings fellow Ugandans, fellow Africans and especially, the Bazzukulu.   I am sending out this message to, first of all, thank God for giving Maama and myself our wonderful children: Muhoozi (Muogi), Natasha (Kukuru), Patience (Pusi) and Kyaremeera (Kyinini)., protecting them and prospering them.  Secondly, I want to thank Maama for looking after them especially for the years 1981-86 when she was the only parent near them. Thirdly, I salute the children for going through the school systems and branching out successfully in the different fields of life – family, career, etc. Fourthly, I thank the Ugandans and some of the Africans for standing with and supporting our family and Political movement in the various endeavours we have been undertaking with them. On this occasion, on the 24th of April 2026, I want to congratulate Gen. Muhoozi (Muogi) on this 52nd birthday. These children, in particular Muhoozi, were born in the resistance, grew up in the resistance, and, in various ways, have made significant contribution to the resistance. Gen. Muhoozi has made significant contribution to fighting corruption in the Army and increasing the lethality of the UPDF.

Happy Birthday dear Gen. MK! Thank you for your sacrifice and service to the nation and most especially, for your stand in the fight against corruption. May the Lord give you many more healthy and happy years, according your His Word in Psalm 91.

Earlier today, I engaged with banking and telecommunications sector leaders at the 8th URA Biennial Bankers’ Conference. I appreciated the financial sector’s role in revenue mobilization and enabling efficient payments and collections, and we discussed its importance in expanding the tax base and sustaining revenue growth. Strong public-private collaboration is central to building trust, strengthening institutions, and supporting inclusive economic growth.

Hosting fellow Commissioners General from 10 member states for the @ATAFtax Council meeting. Always valuable to engage with peers on the realities we face and how we strengthen tax administrations across Africa through shared experience and practical collaboration.

I welcomed George Arodi, CEO of @UgandaBaati, and his team for a constructive engagement on tax compliance, business efficiency, and the outlook of the steel manufacturing sector. We appreciate @UgandaBaati’s continued contribution to national development through its contribution to domestic revenue, as well as its investments in health, environmental stewardship, and shelter.

Productive engagement with Ms. Mary Baine, Executive Secretary of @ATAFtax, ahead of tomorrow’s Council meeting. Uganda is prepared to host focused discussions on collaboration, governance, and strengthening tax administration across Africa.

I met H.E. Mags Gaynor, Ireland’s Ambassador to Uganda, to strengthen cooperation in tax administration, capacity building, and domestic revenue mobilization in support of Uganda’s development priorities. In line with our focus on strengthening compliance, we will leverage this partnership for continued knowledge exchange, including learning from Ireland’s best practice.

This evening, I met the Members of Parliament-elect at the ongoing retreat in Kyankwanzi and listened to presentations by experts on personal financial management and wealth creation for leaders. We also discussed key national issues, including taxation and how to address them. I encouraged the members to be ideologically clear and always weigh their actions against principles. Many of the challenges we see, such as conflicts, cheating and bribery, are a result of ideological underdevelopment.

This morning, I hosted the inaugural East African Revenue Authorities Chief Audit Executives Forum in Kampala, convening audit leaders from across the region at a critical moment for domestic resource mobilization. We have set a clear expectation: the Forum must move from dialogue to action. It is tasked to align on shared regional risks, drive coordinated audit responses, and strengthen capacity to safeguard revenue and institutional integrity. Success will be measured by stronger controls and improved revenue performance.

Easter affirms the power of the resurrection and the promise of new life in Christ. As we celebrate this occasion, may it renew our faith, strengthen our character, and guide us to serve with integrity and purpose as we build our nation. Wishing you a blessed and joyful Easter.
