Development finance must translate into stronger domestic capacity. Today, I engaged the African Development Bank on digital tax transformation, trade facilitation, and institutional capability building. Our strategic direction is deliberate, focused on scaling domestic revenue, formalizing the economy, and anchoring Uganda’s growth on a resilient, self‑sustaining fiscal base.

I welcomed Rt. Rev. Paul Kiptoo Masaba, Bishop of Sebei Diocese, to URA for a constructive conversation on how faith leaders can support tax awareness and national development. We agreed to strengthen collaboration in advancing responsible citizenship.

I join the nation in celebrating the dedication, leadership, and resilience of women whose contributions continue to shape our society and strengthen our country. Happy International Women’s Day.

I met KACITA leaders to listen to the challenges traders face in customs clearance and to reaffirm our commitment to fairness and efficiency. Operational issues will be addressed through direct engagement, while policy matters will follow established review processes. Our focus is on facilitating legitimate trade and strengthening compliance within a clear regulatory framework.

Earlier today, I met representatives of taxpayers earning income outside Uganda for an open conversation on transparency and responsible compliance. As part of the global exchange of information framework, we must align with international standards while upholding our laws on worldwide income. Our starting point is partnership, not enforcement. A voluntary disclosure window is open for taxpayers to put their affairs in order before the end of the financial year. Our aim is to make compliance clear, fair, and predictable.

A pleasure hosting Joanita Menya, Managing Director @VivoEnergyUg, and her team on a courtesy visit. Their strong compliance culture and steady contribution to our revenue effort reflect the positive partnerships we continue to build with all our large taxpayers. We also reaffirmed our commitment to more proactive engagements. @URAuganda remains committed to supporting all taxpayers and fostering an environment where compliant businesses thrive while advancing national development.

Uganda’s oil must deliver measurable value for its citizens. As we near first production, we’re strengthening collaboration with key sector players to ensure clarity in tax administration and consistent application of the law. I met with @TotalEnergiesUG and @CNOOCUgandaLtd to align on interpretation, revenue assurance, and predictable compliance as the sector enters production. When institutions align early and sustain technical dialogue, natural resources become engines of fiscal stability, investor confidence, and long‑term nation building.

Had the pleasure of hosting colleagues from @HMRCgovuk and @GhanaRevenue following a strong peer engagement on Automatic Exchange of Information. Grateful for the partnership as we continue to strengthen tax transparency, compliance, and domestic revenue mobilization efforts.

The fight against illicit alcohol requires unity. Earlier today, I met with Uganda Breweries Ltd led by MD Felicite Nson, and we agreed to jointly address this challenge. This goes beyond compliance or revenue. It's about public safety, fair business, and shared responsibility.

Today, I join fellow Ugandans in honoring the 45th anniversary of Tarehe Sita, a defining moment that reaffirmed unity and sacrifice. May that same spirit drive our pursuit of economic liberation as our nation‑building journey continues with purpose, accountability, and results.
