Capacity to see macro and micro aspects of ventures. Whether it’s in real estate or crypto, I excel at looking at both the big-picture and fine details.

@policytensor If I was the US, I would be more worried about the leverage they concede to all affected nations every passing day.

That’s just leverage. They don’t want to drag it out if they can. They want a permanent solution here. The US is trying to wiggle out of offering substantial relief. But they won’t let it go. Non-aggression pact and sanctions relief/tolls/money is a dealbreaker for Iran.
Janis Kluge@jakluge

Iran knows that its leverage in negotiations only grows over time. That's a strong incentive to slow down talks. The only way the US can get a quick deal is if Iran fears a ground invasion. But it's unclear if that is a credible threat, because it would be so unpopular in the US.

Bull case for crypto (thanks to AI) Soon AI agents will replace desk job employees AI agents don’t use banks, or traditional finance They will use crypto (DeFi) to transact, execute tasks, hire services, etc… Why do you think companies are racing to tokenize all assets. because soon AI will be buying RWA like houses, all onchain This is the best time to get into crypto!!

There is a good civic argument for the "electoral college". Almost all western democracies give more weight to rural voters, for the same reason as the original compromise when ratifying the Constitution. Without some counterbalance, rural areas simply become "colonies" of urban areas, with government serving the interests of urban areas over the wishes of rural areas. In almost all western democracies, the person leading the country is not chosen by a popular vote, but by representatives. Those representatives are in turn chosen primarily as local representatives for individual communities. The electoral college giving more voting power to some is not a violation of democratic principles, but the norm in western liberal democracies.
James Surowiecki@JamesSurowiecki

There's no good civic argument for the electoral college. It was arguably necessary to ensure the ratification of the Constitution, but it's an anti-democratic device that gives some American citizens far more voting power than others, based purely on where they live.

@LBDuck22 @2ndsucks86 @HmhXYhwH @cturnbull1968 We left it for the Afghan gov and they capitulated to immediately. That America's fault? It was a problem the military was never going to solve. How do people not understand that?

This would be a two or three week news story in a previous administration, and might even lead to the resignation of the defense secretary. He literally fabricated a Biblical quote, based off of a movie, while pretending to be a pious Christian. But under Trump, we’ll have moved on by tomorrow.
Mario Nawfal@MarioNawfal

🇺🇸 Hegseth recited “Ezekiel 25:17” speech at a Pentagon church service. But here’s the problem: it’s not actually from the Bible, but from Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. He even tweaked the ending to reference a military rescue unit. Who do you think pulled it off better? Hegseth or Samuel L. Jackson?

Well, we’re supporting genocides, launching failed wars of aggression, putting everyone’s livelihoods at risk with our policy of garrisoning the world economy, and shaking down everyone and their mother. Meanwhile, the Chinese are doing more than anyone else to transition the world towards a post-carbon future, and generally behaving responsibly in the world. But it is not just policies. Everyone can see the dramatic contrast in the competence of the two nations. What is surprising is not that perceptions of China are getting more positive. What is surprising is that, despite @mgurri’s global information sphere, the US public remains so indoctrinated as to not see these elementary facts. In other words, what demands explanation is the improbable success of the Chomsky-Herman propaganda model despite the revolutions in the media landscape.
Kyle Chan@kyleichan

Why have Americans’ views of China been getting gradually more positive over the past few years?
