After much thought, I have decided to permanently switch my social media names from Animated to MadaCollects. Ever since I was a child, collecting has always been a part of my life. Rocks, coins, cards, paintings, and now NFTs. I simply love and have loved searching out unique and beautiful artifacts that bring beauty and joy into my life. Part of this identity shift is to mark a change in my approach. My goal moving forward will be to do a significantly better job displaying the collection I have amassed. This means build out a website, work with local business and museums to display the works, and look to new ways I can proudly share these works to friends and family. This name change also more accurately reflects who I am as a person (iykyk) and who I want to be. I have obviously been vocal about collecting art in this space, but also collecting memories and friendships. I will prioritize people, projects, and artists that embody the idea of p^p. I have always said that my favorite thing about the NFT space is how remarkable the people are. Let’s not forget that this space can be so so much fun. Overall, my direction won’t change all that much but the intentionality certainly will. I am excited for the future and hope you are too. Per usual, be careful of scammers. My wallets are the same and will only use verified platforms for buys/trades.

Most people still think NFTs are about pictures. They're actually about memory. Every important culture creates artifacts: Books, paintings, baseball cards, concert posters, historical documents, etc... The internet created global culture at a scale never seen before, but its artifacts couldn't be owned. NFTs changed everything. For the first time, internet culture can leave behind permanent, scarce, verifiable artifacts. And over time, the artifacts of internet culture will become the most valuable of all, because the internet is where humanity overwhelmingly lives, creates, and remembers. Not everything deserves to be collected. But the things that matter most do. The bet isn't that every NFT succeeds. The bet is digital culture becomes increasingly significant, and the artifacts people care about most live onchain. What fascinates me is how small the market still is. The internet already dominates culture, yet many of the most important onchain artifacts (aka JPEGs) can still be collected by ordinary people. This opportunity will not exist forever.

I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED 😂🙌 All jokes aside, the mountains have become my gravity, my guides on life's path, which I never would have expected as a kid growing up in Toronto. From my first visit to the Canadian Rockies I decided I needed to move to western Canada, to ultimately become a heart and high altitude physiologist and join high altitude expeditions around the world. The mountains shifted my photography to the outdoors, and ultimately impacted me so profoundly I chose to leave a career as a would-be-professor to become a full time artist, photographer, mountaineer and hiking guide. TLDR: they are tethered to my soul, and the spine of this earth. I have a series of three of my most cherished photographs available on SR, a collection called "ASCENSION". The pieces were photographed in a time where I was making the incredibly tough (and terrifying) decision to leave my career to pursue a life in the mountains. It felt like a climb without a route. I paired each with little poetic reflections, my effort to somehow encapsulate my thoughts as I continued up, uncertain of if or when I'd "summit." I have been so dang busy this week but finally dove deep into @dotjiwa new project that utilizes @SuperRare Liquid editions. Simply put I think it’s brilliant. When I originally spoke with @im_jonooo and the SR team about Liquid editions, it was hard to visualize what networked art combined with liquid editions would look like. Safe to say Jiwa knocked it out of the park. More to come on a deep dive, but for now Bravo 👏

WINDOWS // NYC For the past five years, I've immersed myself in a photographic, typological study of the illuminated windows of New York City at night. On June 16th, we invite you to build a new world with us, a multilayered, interconnected city of light and shadow, powered by @TransientLabs Studio. This has been my biggest undertaking to date, and is the extension of my lifelong interest in photographic patterns and generative photography. This interest was crystalized in 2021 with my project DRIVE and continued in 2022 with Drip Drop. Over the years, I've learned so much about the conceptual world of typologies, about the intersection of photographic technologies and blockchain as immutable records of consensus and truth, and of course, about how the constant evolution of technology broadens the scope of what is possible for us artists- revealing new ways to create and connect with the people who seek to do the same. The process of creating WINDOWS // NYC has been the best sort of challenge, and as always, the incredible minds at @TransientLabs have taken my ideas and built technological frameworks that have elevated this project beyond my wildest dreams.
