Sources: the Steelers placed the rare right-of-first-refusal tender on Aaron Rodgers, meaning that he can accept a 10 percent raise off last year’s salary, which would pay him about $15 million this season. As another condition of the tender, Rodgers would only be able to sign with the Steelers once training camp begins.

I think how this offseason & draft shaped up this year is telling that the #Steelers want Rodgers back one more year. Added O-Line help with Hoffman & drafting Iheanachor & Dunker.
They added a ton of weapons with Dowdle, Pittman, Bernard, with younger depth pieces with Nowakowski, Wetjen, & Heidenreich.
McCarthy wants to immediately succeed in year one & a first year starting QB isn’t apart of that recipe - also, another year of Rodgers mentoring the young guns is an added (& much needed) bonus. I think Rodgers for one more year is exactly what Allar & Howard need to develop if one of them are to be the #Steelers next quarterback.

The Steelers should tell Aaron Rodgers not to come back. They need to find out what they have in Drew Allar and Will Howard. Bringing Rodgers back doesn't give you the best opportunity to develop both.

@CarneyMedia Rodgers is definitely playing this year with a chance at playing next year depending on his performance, health and obviously team direction. Best move for the Steelers in building for the future while staying competitive
