@JeremyTate41 It used to be Saint Agnes School. Changing to the much more pretentious “academy” seems mildly humorous to those of us who graduated from the historically more elite Catholic military high schools nearby, Cretin and Saint Thomas Academy.

Minnesota’s paid leave law was written by idiots. As a one-man LLC, I could claim a back injury, collect 90% of my income up to $1,433 per week. Then I can apply for a $3,000 state grant and say I’m using the money to learn about the new law.

A lot of liberals are cautioning not to take the Shirley video at face value or jump to conclusions. But what is the scenario in which what we have seen is acceptable?
What if these ramshackle, windowless facilities in decaying office parks run by illiterate Somali migrants are indeed providing some babysitting services? Should we be fine with hundreds of millions of dollars in government subsidies going to these businesses that would not exist but for massive public largess?
Even if it’s legal, the taxpayers are still being robbed.

@anothercohen Looked up total program costs of federal block grants, other federal money, and state money. Total is about $500M. Somali children make up about 12% of poor. So you can figure out reasonable max for childcare fraud possible, at least order of magnitude.
