America delivers for its friends and allies. Under @POTUS’s leadership, and with determined diplomacy led by Special Envoy for Belarus John Coale, Andrzej Poczobut is now free from detention in Belarus and can once again embrace his family. Our partners in Poland worked side by side with us to secure his release. We appreciate the incredible work of the Polish Special Services and Ministry of Foreign Affairs @MSZ_RP to get this done. That is what real partners do.

Belgian PM De Wever wants a more assertive China policy from the EU: De Wever has called on the European Union "to adopt a firmer approach towards what he describes as unfair Chinese competition". In a letter to European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen, he warns that "Beijing’s economic policies are eroding Europe’s industrial base". De Wever argues that the framework of calling China a partner, an economic competitor, and a systemic rival is outdated and urges a more coherent and assertive policy. Among the measures proposed, he advocates strengthening the European Commission’s capacity to investigate unfair trade practices. He calls for closer coordination among member states to avoid fragmented bilateral agreements with third countries. In addition, he wants the bloc to reduce its dependence on China by deepening cooperation with countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan and India, all of which face similar challenges. At the same time, he says, Europe should invest in reinforcing its position in global supply chains to counterbalance China’s influence. 1/2

The US is lifting sanctions against Belarusian banks and potassium, according to US Special Envoy John Cole. This is outrageous! Trump rewards aggressors, mass murderers, and dictators while blackmailing and insulting the victim, Ukraine. According to Cole, the restrictions against the Belarusian Ministry of Finance, the Belarus Development Bank, and Belinvestbank will be lifted. Furthermore, the Belarusian Potash Company and Belaruskali, the main producers of potash fertilizers, will be removed from the US sanctions list. The US Special Envoy stated that the lifting of the restrictions would be swift and noted that he had discussed this matter with officials from the Ministry of Finance before his visit to Minsk.

Met with @MiriamMLex to discuss our EU path. EU membership remains our strategic priority. The accession process must be merit-based, built on the Copenhagen criteria, and free from bilateral conditions. The blockade is a serious issue and a dangerous precedent. In times of geopolitical challenges, EU integration is key to stability.
