He plead guilty to a number of chargers including attempted murder. The sentences will run concurrently. His cousin, Bellarmine got a R600 000 fine and will be deported TODAY. IMPORTANT To note the victim, Sipho Mahlangu was paid R400 000 as compensation. And he decided to withdraw the case. @eNCA

Breaking news Bellarmine Mugabe Fined R600K, Faces Deportation After Conviction Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, the youngest son of the late Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, has been sentenced in a Johannesburg court to a fine of R400,000 (or 24 months in prison) for pointing a firearm, plus an additional R200,000 (or 18 months) for contravening South Africa's Immigration Act by being in the country illegally. He will be immediately deported to Zimbabwe following sentencing.

Bush, America passed the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act (ZDERA). Thabo Mbeki lobbied aggressively against this. Zuma continued where Mbeki left off. Ramaphosa also pushed this as one of his agenda items in his last meeting with Biden. The result? Well, in 2024, the USA adjusted and refined the original legislation. South Africa's case to the USA, ON BEHALF OF ZIMBABWE - because YOUR leaders could not travel - was that sanctions on Zimbabwe are counterproductive as they weaken the REGION and affect ordinary citizens more than politicians. Under Ramaphosa, RSA supported SADC's anti-sanctions initiative AND made this a bilateral issue with the USA. The strategy was that it should not just be South Africa advocating for your country, but the entire region. PS - I love a good debate.
