Very much this. I've worked with women's groups (off and on) since 1985 as a creative writing tutor and bibliotherapist. Many women hugely benefit socially and personally from all-women provisions. Without them some would remain isolated.

Without the guarantee of single sex services, spaces, sports, for many females, this means they just stop doing those things. Their world, their opportunities get even smaller than currently . They don’t speak up but quietly their lives are diminished and even more vulnerable
