@DanielKimW Definitely needs some tweaking. However it has added a lot of excitement to the game. Maybe add a 0.5in buffer and say anything within that doesn't change the call? Somewhat like in football where it isn't conclusive?

I initially liked ABS, but after 2 full seasons, I’m having some doubts. It takes away aggressiveness away from pitchers. Instead of attacking the zone, I’m noticing more pitchers trying to “clip” the zone. There are positives as it sort of gets rid of bad umpiring. However at this point, I’d rather watch a game with a good ump.

people say "women are not paid less, they just pick empathy careers." ok.!!! but who decided nursing and teaching are worth less? like we will pay a sales guy 150k to move numbers around, but pay a nurse pennies to literally keep people alive, or give a teacher crumbs and wonder why future generations are failing every test. it is not that empathy based work is less valuable it is that we’ve normalized underpaying it because it’s "women’s work."

In 1995, The Montreal Expos drafted Tom Brady. He was projected as a potential All-Star, and then-GM Kevin Malone said he could have been "one of the greatest catchers ever."
Brady was noted for having an (obviously) super-strong arm, batting lefty, and having a lot of pop in his bat.

We had a guy in my basic training platoon who was 38, and--by his own admission--he looked like he was 45. Really nice guy. No one disliked him. Terrible at every aspect of training. Got blackout drunk on our grad weekend pass. Threw up all over his uniform. So, we spent much of that night finding a laundromat to get his uniform clean while he slept it off. Still somehow drunk when we returned to base. We managed to get him into his bunk without the drill sergeants noticing. He graduated on time. I have no idea what happened to him after that, and nothing would surprise me.

my hot take is that there should be no time accommodations for a /standardized test/ ever
if someone is blind? Yeah they get adjustments so they can literally take the test. But extra time is fake. No one should get extra time. It defeats the whole purpose of the test.

Curious everyone's thoughts: Any student who receives accommodations receives a diploma and standardized tests scores with a flag noting that they got accommodations. A small counter-incentive to accommodation-nation, but something is better than nothing, no?
