🇿🇦 Cape Town 📍 Stop No. 1️⃣ on Eliud's World Tour 2x Olympic champion and former marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge has announced that Cape Town will be the first stop on his World Tour – his plan to complete 7 marathons on all 7 continents over the next two years. This will be his first marathon in Africa. 🗣️ “Africa is where my journey as a runner began and where the foundation of my success is deeply rooted. To start this World Tour in Cape Town is very special. It is about celebrating the strength of African running and inspiring the next generation. To race my first ever marathon on the African continent holds deep meaning for me. I cannot wait!” His mission for the tour is to “unite the world through running” and raise money for the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation, which supports education and environmental projects. The Cape Town Marathon is currently a candidate race for Abbott World Marathon Majors status.

NEW: Runners in the Los Angeles Marathon will be able to stop at mile 18 and still receive a finisher medal this weekend. Organizers say it’s an option for participants who are having a tough race day.
