Diary entries from Boris Johnson's Chief Scientific Adviser Patrick Vallance reveals his frustration at the PM's inability to grasp basic scientific concepts. Facts had to be repeatedly explained to him and he'd then forget them again within hours and need them explaining again.

Today @WHO led a very high risk @UN assessment mission to Al-Shifa hospital in #Gaza. The team saw a hospital no longer able to function: no water, no food, no electricity, no fuel, medical supplies depleted. Given this deplorable situation and the condition of many patients, including babies, health workers requested support to evacuate patients who cannot receive lifesaving care there anymore. We are working with partners to develop an urgent evacuation plan and ask for full facilitation of this plan. We continue to call for protection of health and of civilians. The current situation is unbearable and unjustifiable. Ceasefire. NOW.

Today marks 20 years since the repeal of Section 28. Moving the clause to repeal Section 28 remains one of my proudest moments in politics. We still have a way to go to end the discrimination faced by the LGBT+ community and Liberal Democrats will keep fighting.

Incredibly irresponsible.

It was clear from the outset that the #Rwanda policy was illegal. Yet more tax payers money wasted by this failing Conservative government, rather than working across borders and seeking more compassionate solutions.

Brexit costing the country upwards of £100bn per year… The failure of Greensill Capital cost UK taxpayers up to £5bn We have Cameron to thank for both of these I look forward to seeing how much he costs us in this role…
