@ScienceSkool @Hookean1 A good way to start is to follow the student route before you start. Get a series of workbooks e.g. cgp ready for A Level, year 1, year 2 read the notes and do the questions. Study mark schemes; look at required language and be careful to stick to it when explaining.

@WRBdB @m_chiles On the back of this. Do you feel being head of a large department (sci,maths and eng) limits progression into SLT internally? Recruitment issues being the reason and the loss of those teachers in the classroom?

@m_chiles The one I don't often see and should be possible is the head of a large department going to be a deputy head without being an assistant head first. Assistant head and head of a large department is often on similar pay (and responsibility - depending how you define that.)

Is it unusual for an Assistant Head to apply for a Headteacher role? Anyone seen this happen or been the person who’s done it? Also, is it more common with the new Head of School roles?

@RogersHistory I applied for a head of department job against the internal candidate, and got the job *shrugs*. So not always how you expect them to go.

Random thought - Number of days/hours wasted by schools appointing an internal candidate for a job that they always intended to but inviting loads of external peeps for intensive interview: countless.

@gruffyth @AndrewT28044364 @BeckettUnite I'd say at least 60% of university degrees do not factor in employment decision making. Around 80% of graduates do not work in their area of study for more than 10 yrs. Thus most degrees are a waste of time and money and unproductive for society. Universities need to offer more.

Since the war in Ukraine began the Tories have taken the opportunity to quietly announce £5bl cuts in the NHS budget; a life long graduate tax of £100k plus for students; and the end of any spending to support industry.
