They say don't speak ill of the dead, but there's a free pass on criticising their work. So these are my least favourite book plots; 1. Genius middle-aged man dates hot teen for her looks and is disgusted to find out they have nothing in common and she doesn't care about his seminal work on wasp larvae. Concludes sadly all women are stupid and bad. 2. Wonderful good man is wonderful and good, but a flawed hot woman is flawed. He objectifies her and insists on marrying her anyway because hot, and is somehow not the problematic character when she doesn't change personality. 3. Rich man marries hot woman for hot. She's the bad person when he realises she married him for rich. He's tortured by this and it's never portrayed as ironic or identified as hypocrisy. 4. Man falls in love with hot woman at first sight. She loves him back. They never really talk much. She dies. Sombre 'I loved her' scene at her grave. 5. The plant symbolises hope.

@mattvanswol Remember that you are raising them to be adults so ask them questions as correction to make them think logically, and also remember that they are NOT adults yet, so you need to factor in what development stage they are as you set expectations.

@tanpukunokami Yes, if you allow immigration from countries with cultures that have widespread rape, theft, assault, & child marriage rates. So, basically any third or even some second world nations should not be allowed in.

In case you haven't been following the Duggar story: Joseph Duggar molested his wife's 9-year-old little sister on a family vacation. She eventually got up the courage to tell her father. He confronted Joseph. Joseph confessed and apologized and ACTUALLY THOUGHT THAT WOULD BE THE END OF IT. His father-in-law went to police, and via police got the confession reiterated on a recorded call. Joseph was arrested. Pursuant to state law, his arrest triggered an automatic home investigation to determine the safety of his four children. This investigation led to his wife, Kendra's, arrest and the removal of their children. Prison phone calls reveal Kendra and the entire Duggar family are standing with Joseph, and they all seem to think God is on their side against what they view as attack by the enemy. No acknowledgement of the seriousness of his crime and what it's done to his family. Joseph Duggar pled not guilty. And Joseph and Kendra are kicking her family out of the home they gifted them in retaliation for turning him in.

Correct. The key here is not emotions. You can be emotional in front of a woman, even cry, and not have it repulse her. It's having CHILDISH emotional expression that gives women "the ick." And venting is a behavior unsuited to a man because it's what you do when you can't solve the problem. It's what you do when you're impotent or cowardly.

This may be a hot take. BUT! I’m not convinced it should take 3 years to propose to someone. Even 2. If you’ve been dating someone exclusively for 1 year & you STILL don’t know if you’d spend the rest of your life with them…. Then you’ll probably end up divorced in the long run.
