@TypewritingDA Do you know of any fighters with great in-fighting or specific notable in-fighting performances in Muay Thai or MMA? Seems hard to find without having it turn into clinchfighting in those sports.

It's not unusual for a combat sport to have infighting -> clinch-fighting -> pocket action and vice versa (i.e. Muay Thai and Boxing, though it depends upon the fighters/rules), it's just surprising to realize how there aren't many constantly flowing ones like this in MMA itself.

There's a lot happening but I think, if you're able to follow, you can tell how much of these fall into "infighting" (close proximity, almost head-to-head, no tie ups, grips only partially established) vs clinch fighting (very little space, tons of grips established).

@LorenRTechGuy @ZacPauga If you haven’t already, I’d also recommend checking out Rise kickboxing (who they’re cross-promoting with for the featherweight tournament) and modern K1 as well.

@ZacPauga Yes especially in America cardio kickboxing diluted the identity of Kickboxing in the public mind. I’m training in kickboxing & muay thai & I like both. And Glory kickboxing I enjoy watching the most.

@ZacPauga I’ve listened to UFC fans complain about boring lay and pray performances for too long for them to not tune into Glory. Kickboxing is the most exciting combat sport there is and Glory is an extremely well put together organization

@buckadeath Man that part where they hid like bitches in the mountains while the royalist did most of the fighting and dying must be really boring.

@esrmuaythai What’s wrong? I thought he still had it this fight (surprising considering Panpayak fought up in weight this time).

@MigClass Haven’t seen the fight yet. Has Santos at any point in the fight doubled up punches on the same side?

@runawayslb I see the value in making him mentally tougher. It’s just that pushing him around and saying variations of “Your opponent isn’t gonna stop!” or “More power let’s go!” doesn’t seem as productive or constructive as reminding him to stay in his stance or any technical errors.

@TypewritingDA Personally find The Raid 1’s 2v1 fight better due to it being a bit more back-and-forth than this one, but understandable that people would like R2’s final fight more. Not familiar with Drunken Master (or any of Jackie Chan’s older stuff from the 90s besides Rush Hour) though.

@SomeBoi108 Can I say it tops R1's 2v1, Drunken Master 2's factory, etc. and so on? I dunno, but I really can't argue with anything when you get to the top fraternity.

It's fair to say, choreography-wise and with insane escalated pacing, it's near the absolute best I've ever seen even if I'm not sure what no. 1 is. It takes something special to make a fight scene make people in theaters straight up applaud like mine did when we saw this.

@LukeFurryjo How is the guy in the gloves supposed to defend the counter lead hook without rolling under after throwing the right hand? The padman is already throwing the counter before the guy connected with his right?

@OWPhotos @JimKarasBoxing Watch the Golden Age K-1 (the Heavyweight World Grand Prix and the lightweight MAX tournaments) fights between 1990-2010. I’d also recommend Rise, Glory and modern K-1. One Championship is only the very tip of the iceberg and has very shallow and top-heavy divisions.

In boxing terns how good is Rico Verhoeven as a kickboxer? Was he like the Usyk of kickboxing? Or something less like a Joshua or Dubois level?

@OWPhotos @JimKarasBoxing Would really recommend getting into kickboxing if you’re a fan of striking. It’s a seriously under-watched combat sport.

@OWPhotos @JimKarasBoxing K-1 (especially during its Golden Age) and Rise say otherwise. The pace is faster and exchanges happen more often.
