@Mktrhythms @Mr_Derivatives Not true. TQQQ is the only LETF that actually does more than 3X in uptrends allowing it to make up for any decay. Go ahead and backtest it. The only thing that sucks is the massive dd you have to endure to get those spectacular gains
English

@Mr_Derivatives Leveraged ETFs like $TQQQ are structurally flawed due to daily rebalancing which erodes their value over time. The fact that $TQQQ has retraced to 2021 highs while $QQQ remains elevated highlights the decay of leveraged products.
English

Currently the $TQQQ (3x etf of QQQ) has retraced all the way back to the same levels as the 2021 highs while the $QQQ itself is still some 45% above those same 2021 highs.
I think at this point everyone knows how to play these 3x levered etf's and the risks they carry. (daily reset, decay, high expense ratio, etc.)
But what is interesting too is that the daily reset can work in your favor as well in a mighty uptrend pretty unabated rip. Case in point the orange line from the Liberation Day lows to last years highs. Notice the QQQ went up 58% yet the 3x TQQQ went up 250%! That's almost 5x!
So I guess what I am trying to imply is buy the $TQQQ after every major drawdown/bear market. It can make for a good short term to medium term hold. Long term wise, nah.

English

@Mr_Derivatives Try holding TQQQ for 10 years. The 3X leverage works wonders in a bull market and cancels out any decay in downtrend/choppy markets

@SystematicPeter I’m using AI in practically the same way. I believe this is where the edge lies
English

I have been using AI heavily in trading for a long time, but the biggest value was not in finding ideas.
Coding help is great.
Strategy generation and "edge discovery" were much less useful than I expected.
My real bottleneck was research documentation.
I realized I do not lack trading ideas.
Running tests is easy.
The hard part is not getting lost in the details months later - what I tested, what failed, what looked promising, what changed, and why.
So I changed the workflow.
I built a Claude Code environment that runs as a research assistant and documentation engine.
I am in control of alpha discovery.
I bring the ideas and direct the research.
AI documents everything.
Two simple skills changed a lot:
Checkout: saves findings, assumptions, limitations, and results in a standardized format
Journal: creates a daily overview of checkouts, tests, code changes, decisions, and research progress
Now every variant, script version, and in-sample test is tracked and searchable.
That has been far more valuable than using AI to sound smart.
The biggest benefit:
It really feels like running my own research department, but for almost free.
For serious trading research, AI is often most useful not as an idea generator - but as a system for structure, memory, and process.
Anyone else using LLMs more as research infrastructure?

Why bother backtesting signals and creating new models? 😂

Heads-up: Pre-market so-called “news” or “Truth” is often just a setup for profit-taking. Basically, it’s a reverse indicator. Do the opposite: If they pump it, short it. If they dump it, go long. See something tomorrow? You know the drill.
