This week in the Sunday Business Post, I explained why Ireland’s proposed ban on goods from illegal Israeli settlements is legally robust, consistent with international law & an important step in supporting peace, accountability and a viable two-state solution.

There is no “campaign against Ireland.” Ireland singled itself out. And yes, other European countries also supply Russia with critical raw materials, microelectronics, and other resources that help Russia sustain its genocidal war against Ukraine. But you cannot spend months lecturing the world about morality, sanctions, and doing business with countries accused of killing civilians, while simultaneously helping sustain trade that benefits Russia’s war machine. When you claim the moral high ground, people start looking at what you’re actually doing, and the level of double standards and hypocrisy simply blows their minds.

I asked a local councillor if the russian refinery here in Ireland should be sanctioned. He said yes, if it was supplying Israel. But Russia? No. This is Ireland’s sanctions hypocrisy in 90 seconds.
