@CrimsonDesert_ can we fix being forced to use weapons we don't want after cutscenes. I don't want to use a Shield and 1H against a boss. Stop forcing me to switch, manage food and block all at the same time due to this force.
English

@Smurfgotbeat Am I missing something? I could've sworn its been know it was going to be a mesh between MMO/SP.
Not to mention that even though options are there not a single thing has been forced onto you to do in order to enjoy the game. You may feel obligated or overwhelmed but non forced.
English

I'm stepping away from Crimson Desert.
After putting in some solid hours, I've come to the conclusion that the game has become too bloated for its own good. What started as an exciting open-world action RPG has turned into something that feels overwhelming rather than fun.
The biggest issue for me is the sheer amount of options and systems thrown at the player. The open world is packed with mechanics, menus, and features that end up getting in the way of the core gameplay. Instead of feeling free and immersive, it starts to feel like work—constantly managing inventories, tracking dozens of systems, and navigating bloated interfaces.
The combat and exploration had real potential, but the constant barrage of new options and distractions killed the momentum and joy for me. Less would have been so much more here.
If you're someone who loves deep, complex systems and doesn't mind a very busy open world, you might still enjoy it. For me, it's just no longer fun.
It feels like a mesh of a MMO/SP game and after so many hours in this world? It's not right for me.

@KJovian @idiocriicy @ZoieNolan4 @_Riddock_ Mapgenie is one of the ones. Its an interactive map. Not sure if it shows where to find black dye but it shows where others are.
English

@idiocriicy @ZoieNolan4 @_Riddock_ Na it didn’t but he explains two websites that have it there, haven’t checked them yet
English

@paigeayeeee Well ya cause she is me cause don't have anyone out here to watch opening day with ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
English

@nuhre_ @GetterPaol19840 RDR2 was like this until you got your camp at Horseshoe.
Witcher 3 didn't open up till you got to Velen.
Cyberpunk didn't get good until after you meet Johnny like 5hr in.
So not being hooked within the first hour is crazy to me.
English

@GetterPaol19840 Unfortunately that seems to be the overall consensus. I am hearing a lot of "people need to push past the lack of story and really lose themselves in the world for a few hours before they judge" but a game that doesnt hook me in an hour is a game I'm refunding, sorry.
English

The jury is out on Crimson Desert.
Turns out I was right. I know, I know... you guys hate when that happens.
The consensus so far:
• Exploration is the main draw
• The game tries to do way too much
• Feels like a single-player MMO
• Story is trash
• Mechanics are convoluted
• Takes 8+ hours to even hook you
So yeah, this is a very specific niche game.
The kind some people will absolutely love… and most will play, think “yeah, that was alright,” and never touch again.
And that’s fine.
Not every game needs to be perfect to be enjoyable.
And not everyone has to like the same things you do.

@Evrizzle @Youtubable Pick your starter in every region.
When you get to the next region it asks which you want on your team from the previous locking all but that 1 but not allowing you to withdraw them.
Come Kalos you get your 5 locked and 6th would be whoever you choose before last battle.
English

@Youtubable How would level scaling work in this sense if you travel from one region to the next?
English

Imagine a Pokemon game where you start in Kanto and travel through 6 regions, ending in Kalos.
Kanto ->Johto -> Hoenn -> Sinnoh -> Unova -> Kalos
After completing each region, you must lock in one Pokemon from that journey.
By the time you reach Kalos, you’ll have 6 locked Pokemon…
And that becomes your final battle team.
Your entire adventure decides your champion squad.
The final battle?
Professor Oak - who became a professor after completing the Pokedex and catching every Pokemon from every region.

@5tevenRo55 @TwistedTrvster @BrianAtlas Yep its exactly what it was. It was "Misconduct in Public Office" because she had power over the patient as his nurse.
Her career was over anyway but had she not lied she may have only gotten probation. She fucked herself worse when she lied.
English

@TwistedTrvster @BrianAtlas I don't know the story, what was the alleged crime? He hadn't consented or he was unconscious or something? It can't just be because she's a nurse and he's a patient, right?
English

Nurse had sex with patient then accused HIM of assault when she was caught.
A Wisconsin nurse has admitted to having sex with a patient then deflecting by falsely accusing him of assaulting her, prosecutors have said.
Melissa Rose Knutson was sentenced to 18 months in prison and two years of public supervision after pleading guilty to misconduct in public office.
Knutson, of Readstown, was treating the man, who was a drug court participant, when she 'repeatedly' engaged in sex with him, prosecutors said.

English

@americanmcgee This is absolutely amazing. As a huge fan of your works you and your team never cease to amaze me.
Regardless of the medium this turns into, reading about how James overcomes or helps over and accept these different dreadfuls, would be an awesome story. Thats what im collecting.
English

@itsjredbeats @albiz94 @TheMindScourge This.
As someone who moved to AZ not PHX specifically for work 2yrs ago, this is a big one.
Literally anything you want to do is 45mins in some direction. Like I don't mind driving but God damm.
English

@albiz94 @TheMindScourge Everything is 45 minutes at most. Everything.
English

Phoenix doesn’t photograph well from the air, but the suburbs are some of the most livable places anywhere in the world. You have extraordinary amenities, good local economy, great weather for 10 months of the year, no bugs, plenty of outdoor activities
The trade off is 2 months of absurdly hot weather and car dependency, but for a lot of people it’s worth it
The City Mentor@TheCityMentor
The "great city" in question
English

@itsjredbeats @DanielConlin6 @TheMindScourge So if that's the worst place to live, you're telling me Indian School RD near I-17 is the best? Right?
🤣
English

@DanielConlin6 @TheMindScourge You listed the absolute worst place in Phoenix to live 😂
English

This game having everything but character creation is a crime. And I probably won't play because of it. I can't get that invested just to play as a man. 😭😭
Mats Kathage@P4wnyhof
Crimson Desert is filled with Mini Games! We have seen so far: 🐴Horse Racing 🐟Fishing 🧐Gambling 🤜Fist Fighting 🏹Archery Competition 👀Riddles... Many Riddles! 💪Arm Wrestling 👊Rock, Paper, Scissors For people easily distracted... @CrimsonDesert_ is going to be a blessing (or a curse)!
English

@AvaGG @UnholyPhoenix I'mexhausted and my reading has suffered from it.
So much so I thought this initially said "No I just like to play as an unrealistically hot woman and run around in an open world map all whilst fisting."
English

@UnholyPhoenix No I just like to play as an unrealistically hot woman and run around in an open world map all whilst fishing.
English

@scoriox @TerezaRozumkova The easiest way to put it is think of a project manager and an art director combined.
LoL for example does around 120 skins a yr. They aren't producing those all in house. They have to outsource.
She has to contract, critque, manage and essentially make it look in-house made.
English

@TerezaRozumkova Sorry no disrespect but I'm now very curious about what this job is.
So you hunt down 3D artists and contract them out for game assets?
I don't know much about game Dev but I didn't realise that was a core component rather than designing these assets in-house.
English

I’ve just been laid off from Highguard, where I worked as a Senior 3D Character Outsource Manager. I have about 60 days to find a new job in the US.
Over the past year, I built and owned Highguard's 3D character and mount cosmetics outsourcing pipeline. I shipped 30 skins for Season 1, more for future seasons, and directed up to 32 assets simultaneously across multiple vendors, handling everything from daily artistic/technical feedback to pipeline/documentation creation and UE5 integration/lookdev.
Before that, I spent 4.5 years at Riot Games working on League of Legends, where I modeled & textured 23 skins and managed 60+ outsourced skins.
I’m actively looking for roles in character art, outsource management, production or art leadership (US or EU) 💕

@Harriso84651147 @LemonadeUpgrade @Riley_Aster Paladins is in life support for multiple reasons one being fad chasing.
Realm Royale, Divine Knockout, Rogue Comapny, Hand of the God's, Smite Rivals. They pulled key devs from Smite and Paladins which in turn hurt the respective game.
1 of many reasons imho.
English

@LemonadeUpgrade @SynicalJester @Riley_Aster It’s also worth noting that paladins is only in life support mode because hi Rez massively fumbled smite 2s launch period and almost collapsed the entire company 😂
English

failed vs successful competitive FPS games of past 5-10 years. (I probably missed some, and no i havent played all of these)
failed:
Highguard
xDefiant
HyperScape
Bloodhunt
Fragpunk
Shatterline
Gundam Evolution
Super People
Spellbreak
Crucible
Alara Prime
Nine to Five
Lemnis Gate
Splitgate
Concord
Spectre Divide
Rogue Company
Dirty Bomb
Farlight84
Paladins
successful:
Apex Legends
Warzone
Valorant
Rainbow Six Siege
Fortnite
PUBG: Battlegrounds
Overwatch
Counter‑Strike
The Finals
Marvel Rivals
Deadlock
TF2
10 out of the 12 successful games had big established studios behind them. And only 5 of 19 of the failed ones had big studios behind them.
Having a winning game for a smaller studio is clearly INCREDIBLY hard historically.
*Credit to Embark for creating something fresh with The Finals and locking in a strong core audience.
But I am curious, is the next big comp fps game going to actually break the mold or will it be more of the same?
