I can relate to characters but I've never understood the Its me! they have to be me mentality. Like if I see a character sharing a trait with me I don't start crying going "Look its me, I'm on screen!" because I'm not, its someone else. Maybe it is a narcissism thing.

The concept of "representation" is just repackaged narcissism. Videos from people crying about how a fictional character resembles them in some shallow way & those applauding them for it are in desperate need of a reality check.
