the "community airdrop" is officially dead.
while $HYPE made millionaires, $EDGE just pulled the most blatant insider play of 2026. 80 wallets took $90M while you got lunch money.
the evolution of perp DEX drops is getting ugly. a thread on why youโre being farmed.
letโs look at the hall of fame first. this is how you build a cult:
$HYPE (Hyperliquid): 31% supply to users. 94k addresses. average drop was massive, some hitting $10M. real wealth gen.
$LIT (Lighter): $675M distributed. $250M exited day 1. pure transparency.
these teams understood that if the community wins, the protocol wins.
then the vibes shifted.
$BP (Backpack) was the first warning shot. sybil drama, crumbs for actual users ($10-50), and the token nuked -68% almost instantly.
but $EDGE just took the "f*ck the community" meta to a whole new level.
the $EDGE "community" allocation was 300M tokens. sounds great on paper, right?
on-chain data paints a different picture:
โข 80 fresh wallets (created hours before claim) took 180M $EDGE.
โข thatโs $90M+ at current prices.
โข 25 wallets grabbed 14% of the TOTAL supply.
meanwhile, 8,400+ real users got less than 100 tokens ($50).
the math is actually insulting.
retail farmers (you): $0.25 - $5.00 per point.
team / "liquidity partners": $100+ per point. ๐คก
you paid the trading fees, you took the liquidation risk, and you provided the volume. the team just farmed their own drop using your liquidity.
@zachxbt already flagged the red flags here. if youโre holding $EDGE expecting a recovery, you are officially the exit liquidity for those 80 insider wallets.
they are waiting to dump on your head the moment there's a bid.
the meta has shifted. "points" are no longer a path to richesโtheyโre a way for teams to bootstrap exit liquidity for themselves.
stop being a sybil for teams that hate you.
