This is really the first time Dems have played bully ball in a sustained way against the GOP to make a political point.

Needless to say, there’s no way Virginia’s redistricting referendum would’ve passed if Trump didn’t fire the opening salvo in Texas. In fact, Dems are now projected to HANDILY win the mid-decade redistricting fight this cycle. Play with fire, don’t cry if you get burned.

One last step for this referendum is the Virginia Supreme Court which has state constitutional issues to consider.
One good thing about this close result from the GOP side is that it could help the court to considering overturning it since it was so close.
We will find out what they decide but I'd still bet on them allowing this referendum to continue.

Tbh, it’s kinda nuts that the big forecasters still rate Juan Ciscomani’s AZ-06 a Tossup.
I mean, at Trump+0.7, Ciscomani+2.5, in a Tucson district with a substantial Latino population: by every metric, this is one of the most cooked incumbents I have ever seen.

just a friendly reminder that republicans have a trifecta and could pass a federal ban on gerrymandering *tomorrow* if they wanted to.
but they don’t want to. they want to rig the system. and then they turn around and throw a temper tantrum when Dems fight back

When Dems take back the House, the first bill they should vote on is a national ban on partisan redistricting
Not a full voting rights expansion bill
Just this as a standalone
Let’s see if their outrage tonight is about the integrity of democracy or just about being outgunned

Texas redistricts without a vote, Republicans cheer.
Dems in Virginia respond by putting it UP FOR A VOTE OF THE PEOPLE, it passes, Republican cry foul.

NBC News just changed "call" on Virginia redistricting from "too early to call" to "too close to call."
All coming down to Fairfax.
If Fairfax votes like the rest of NoVa, would expect Yes to win narrowly.

Not sure where folks are getting idea this is gonna be a large victory for YES.
In basically every completed county BESIDES Loudoun, the YES side is ranging from roughly matching Kamala in NOVA to running like 5% behind in the rurals.
It’s tracking toward like YES+3/4 IMO.

Again, if Republicans want to stop partisan gerrymandering they should vote for Democrats’ proposal for a national ban on partisan gerrymandering.
If they don’t want to stop it, then stop whining.

It's still just completely insane that Democrats were allowed to write a ballot question that says "restore fairness" and have the result create this lobster-like monstrosity of a congressional district.
