@realjuveino My kid has had the good fortune to wrestle both guys. Only in PA... (or maybe the NCAA tournament) can you get that opportunity.

@weispartyof5 @JMackey_PGH Flores has hit at every level. They traded for him for his bat. Expect him to contribute by mid season (or sooner if Bart gets dealt.
English

@stephen_ohl @Pirates People forget that drafting Davis allowed Bubba to be selected 2 rounds later. I think it worked out just fine.
English

@Pirates What a waste. Between him and Davis just abysmal picks.

Nobody is telling you how FUCKED the global energy situation actually is right now.
Everyone is watching the missiles. Nobody is talking about what just got hit.
Iran just struck Ras Laffan. Let me explain why that changes EVERYTHING.
Ras Laffan is not just "some facility in Qatar."
It produces nearly 30% of the ENTIRE WORLD'S liquefied natural gas.
💀 30%. Gone. Fires burning. Extensive damage confirmed by QatarEnergy themselves.
Here's how this hits YOU, no matter where you live:
→ Europe gets roughly 20% of its LNG from Qatar. That supply just got torched. Literally.
→ Germany, France, Italy — all leaning on Qatar LNG after cutting off Russian gas
→ European natural gas prices are about to go PARABOLIC
→ Japan's electric utilities group is ALREADY scrambling to find alternative LNG supply
→ Cambodia just started panic-buying fuel from Singapore and Malaysia to survive
→ South Korea, India, Pakistan — all massive Qatar LNG buyers. All exposed.
This is not a regional conflict. This is a GLOBAL ENERGY CRISIS unfolding in real time.
→ Higher LNG prices = higher electricity bills everywhere
→ Higher electricity bills = higher manufacturing costs
→ Higher manufacturing costs = higher prices on EVERYTHING you buy
→ Food, shipping, heating, cooling — all of it gets more expensive
→ Central banks now have to deal with a fresh inflation shock they didn't see coming
💀 The last time a major energy chokepoint got disrupted, gas prices spiked 40% in weeks
And here's what nobody is connecting:
→ Energy crisis = currency instability
→ Currency instability = capital flight to hard assets
→ Hard assets in 2026 = Bitcoin and gold
→ BTC was literally BUILT for moments when the system starts breaking
Every energy crisis in history has been a monetary crisis in disguise.
This one won't be different.
Save this. Share it before the mainstream catches up.
X is hiding this. Follow + RT before it disappears. 🔥

@IronCityUnk @yvl4_x @BaddestBearJew Nah. There are at least 20 left tackles w/ deals 40M +
19M is worth the risk, especially if he's playing for a contract. Ramsey, Heyward and Queen all make in that range and Jones is potentially way more valuable.
English

@yvl4_x @breadguy44 @BaddestBearJew $20 million to a tackle who has only slightly proven he can start would be egregious

I know it’s not the flashiest pick and I fully understand the many people that wouldn’t like it, but in my opinion Olaivavega Ioane is the correct pick. You trade up and select him solidifying this offensive line for the next decade.
LT: Broderick Jones/Dylan Cook/rookie (or veteran; and yes … I am picking up Broderick Jones’ 5th year option. I was very encouraged with how he was progressing prior to his injury. A new coaching staff, I believe, can develop him and allow for him to reach his fullest potential. There’s still a lot of talent there).
LG: Olaivavega Ioane.
C: Zach Frazier.
RG: Mason McCormick.
RT: Troy Fautanu.

@JFreshHockey @sports______fan @JasonWhiston1 I don't think Zonnon projects as a third liner at this point.
English

@sports______fan @JasonWhiston1 yes and two were picked 22nd and 24th and project as good third liners. we don't have to be delusional here, we need star talent and people are obsessed with quantity of draft picks
English

@LasSalamancas21 @popesergI Moving the goalposts. Went from bad FB hitter to bad last year.
What if he goes strict platoon w Callihan and faces just LHP?
What if he bats in front of O’Hearn instead of Davis?
Makes no improvements to swing but situations change and stats improve?
Stats have limitations.
English

@breadguy44 @popesergI If he did well against fastballs, would you say he's a good fastball hitter? What are you trying to go for? Bottom line is that he was bad against fastballs last year. Doesn't matter if its because of approach, cant handle velo, or whatever. You were just wrong
English

@LasSalamancas21 @popesergI LOL. It’s simple to incorrectly interpret data.
So if he puts up a .775 OPS and +7 runs on FB would your explanation be that now he’s a good FB hitter?
English

@breadguy44 @popesergI I'm sorry, but that is completely illogical. He's not a good fastball hitter, it's really that simple. Why he doesn't do well against them doesnt change that
English

@LasSalamancas21 @popesergI You can be a good fb hitter but still struggle if your approach is wrong or if you overcompensate.
I can relate because I was that hitter in college. I struggled w/good offspeed stuff (no travel ball). Looked FB early in count and laid off slow stuff. Cant do that at MLB level.
English

@breadguy44 @popesergI You said that he's a tremendous fastball hitter. He's an awful fastball hitter, it fact, there was no pitch he was worse against last year.
English

@LasSalamancas21 @popesergI So I say he can hit FBs but not offspeed and I'm defending him? Making shit up?
English

@breadguy44 @popesergI The most common Gonzo defenses are ones that are just completely made up
English

@PoolsMcPools @WatchMyReview Didn't realize Calgary has more picks than PGH, especially in first 3 rounds. 8 of the top 80 or so picks this draft is wild.
English

@WatchMyReview Calgary has 26 picks in the next 3 drafts, Pittsburgh has 25. Calgary also has 18 picks in the first 3 rounds in those drafts compared to 15 for Pittsburgh.
But has done a good job.
English

Kyle Dubas took over the NHL's biggest mess in 2023 in Pittsburgh. Oldest team, little cap, little picks, no prospects. Now they are in a playoff spot with most picks of any team next 3 years, tons of cap, drafted one of the best rookies last summer and prospect pool is far better. Now he's frontrunner for GM of the year.
He runs the entire show in Pittsburgh.
English

@popesergI Not defending him but when you struggle against off speed stuff you can also compensate for it .
This season every hitter has better protection on a better team and theoretically better matchups so it’s make it or break it for than just Nick.
English

@breadguy44 A -7 run value on fastballs last season, by far the worst he fared against any pitch
English

@DonChed54 EDIT: Colorado got dominated by the best team in hockey... on home ice.
English

@B_GNation1 Pretty sure those two guys put the Steelers over the cap, assuming they each made 1.1 BILLION dollars.
English

@PghJarron PGH should use the following picks on a QB:
(21st pick) Simpson
(53rd pick) Nussmeier
(85th pick) Allar
(121st pick) Beck
(135th pick) Klubnik
(216th pick) Green
(224th pick) Robertson
(230th pick) Payton
Drafting 8 QBs is the way to go. Gotta hit on one of them.
English

@Dan_Furman Nice, but they really should invest in their dental school.
English

West Virginia just built a pitching lab that changes everything.
👉 They invested over $5M into tech that can literally flag injury risk before a pitcher feels pain.
16 high-speed cameras + 3D motion capture. Force plates built into the mound. A full-time biomechanist dedicated to baseball. 🤯
Welcome to the future of player development.
English

@GMBCSuperfan @BurghFan99 Cant argues w/ you but I would just make it a "top 11" list :)
English

At just 18 years old, no question this kid is intriguing. I was trying to figure out who I would drop of the top-10 I listed, and decided I stand by the list.
I'm doing a piece on Axiel Plaz later this week, and he's my bubble of the list, but I still put him ahead of Reinold Navarro. He's in the #11-15 range, though his stuff is insane. The more than 1 walk per inning thing is... concerning...
English

Top 10 International Players Signed by Ben Cherington
Wilbur Dotel, 2020, Dominican Republic
Esmerlyn Valdez, 2021, Dominican Republic
Antwone Kelly, 2021, Aruba
Axiel Plaz, 2022, Venezuela
Yordany De Los Santos, 2022, Dominican Republic
Tony Blanco, 2022, Dominican Republic
Edward Florentino, 2024, Dominican Republic
Darell Morel, 2025, Dominican Republic
Johan De Los Santos, 2025, Dominican Republic
Wilton Guerrero, 2026, Dominican Republic
I know we haven’t seen any of his signings do anything at the major league level, but this is a pretty impressive list of players in his five years in the GM seat.
