Believe it or not, a giant sequoia tree once stood on the National Mall. Sort of. The General Noble Redwood Tree House was a 50-foot section of a 2,000-year-old sequoia. It was originally used as an exhibit for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago and then displayed next to the Agriculture Building from 1894 to 1932.
