Currency Contamination II. It has been long recognized paper currency is contaminated with methamphetamine & cocaine. We recently just took 1 bill (gloves & forceps) from 8 physicians’ or students’ billfolds/ purses, washed bills with methanol, and screened for drugs by LC/qTOFF.

12 years ago, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life to leave the field of solid state physics and go into medicine. I told myself I would get away from academic science. Despite this, today I celebrate a major unexpected milestone of 100 papers in PubMed before the end of 2024. Incredibly grateful to my supportive family, all those who took a chance on me, my amazing mentors, and tremendous collaborators.
