Not in the slightest, Erin. I’m tired of seeing grown men wear helmets as if they are little boys. It’s Safetyism gone mad and it is symptomatic of a weak, fragile society. Related to many other things as well like the decline in socializing, 3rd spaces, etc. Where are the intrepid conquerors of yore, Erin?

@allie__voss @Alicia_Bittle_ This is rage bait, right? He uses tanning beds, swam in waste water & did cocaine for years. Define healthy. He’s ignorant and anti-science.

@MkPaxson Baffles me bc I’ve seen kids dying of cancer & their parents would do anything to save them & some parents are apparently out here not even doing the easiest things to protect their kids 🫠

It’s so easy to just wear a helmet. This take blows my mind. Your kid may be doing 6mph, but the car that hits them doesn’t have to be going very fast to change their life via TBI. Why risk your child’s life unnecessarily??
Ashley Fitzgerald@RizomaSchool

Ok I dont really think anyone needs to be wearing a bike helmet unless theyre doing serious speeds or in traffic Little 6 mph kid bike ride on the sidewalk in the neighborhood, no helmet Most kids in my neighborhood dont use one and I like that

@oliveegger I was tested once by a GI for parasites and didn’t have them. I’m sure people do get them sometimes, but not sure how common it is in first-world countries.

I’m just saying, someone in my house, I won’t name names, has some level of health anxiety and was convinced they had parasites. Went through the trouble of ordering a test from a very recommended company. Tested for multiple types and bacterial strains. It came back parasite free! We even have livestock! I think the parasite fear is very overblown. Its probably still just bacterial imbalances. But no one would pop antibiotics monthly!

@RizomaSchool I really admire you saying this completely reasonable, common sense thing out loud. The militant pro-helmet crowd are the very embodiment of the omnipotent moral busybodies which C.S. Lewis warned us about. Ignore them!

@RizomaSchool This is rage bait right? It has to be…. The number of kids I worked with that get TBI’s just doing normal kid play activities is insane.

@brittilina Try a stool or turn sideways to reach farther & then face the sink again to do dishes. If you’d rather put baby in a bouncer next to you, many do that too. There’s solutions to reach the sink if your goal is to wear baby though.

Hi. Brittany here. Girl who’s been REAMED for letting her baby cry while she keeps up with chores. Baby was a lil clingy today, so I tried the whole “babywear-while-doing-chores” idea. Guys. I can’t reach the faucet without severely squishing my baby. The further I reach, the further up her back the counter presses in. Great idea, guys.

@MausRicochet @brittilina Except, forming a secure attachment is something that starts at birth. Not being able to sequence events doesn’t mean there’s no negative effects (speaking generally).

@brittilina If anything they forget instantly what happened to them because they are incapable of sequencing events until like 3 months. They exist inside a tesseract of non sequence.

Seen a lot of conversation about how predatory the American medical system is. So I will weigh in. I ended up going to the ER about 2 weeks ago for crippling pain. Turned out to be a ruptured ovarian cyst. I was there for MAYBE 4 hours. My bill? $13,500 dollars. Because I'm uninsured (by choice, that shit is a SCAM), the hospital dropped my bill down to $8,100 and some change as an "uninsured" discount. For starters, $13,500 for a 4 hour hospital visit is insane as it is. But the fact the hospital can wipe $5,000 off the bill "just because" should show you how utterly fucked this system is. And to be clear - $8,000 is still an absolutely insane sum of money when all these people did was scan my stomach and give me some pain killers. On my itemized bill, my CT scan was 7k. The iodine they used was $900. Just being in the ER room alone was $2,500. We phoned the hospital to haggle. They dropped the price by $20. Normal people can't survive this shit. I do okay and $8,000 is still an INSANE chunk of money out of my savings. Anyone who argues this isn't a disgusting, predatory system is crazy. And it is even crazier that Americans accept this. And for those of you who argue this is the free market, I need you to be quiet. There can never be a true free market here when government and insurance have their creepy little fingers in this pie. People shouldn't go bankrupt trying to pay medical bills. This has to change.
